Horry Telephone Cooperative (HTC) is a telecommunications cooperative in Horry County, South Carolina, in the United States. It was founded in 1952 to serve the rural areas of Horry County where it was unprofitable for national telephone companies to provide service. From 2006 the company offered a fiber-to-the-home service, marketed as HTC Bluewave. ''The Sun News'' is a daily newspaper published in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, in the United States. It serves the Grand Strand region of South Carolina with a daily circulation of 19,773 and a Sunday circulation of 26,798. It is owned by Chatham Asset Management. The ''Myrtle Beach News'' was founded as a weekly in 1935 by brothers-in-law C. L. Phillips and J. Clarence Macklen. They had recently started a printing business, and local merchants asked them to do a local newspaper. In 1961, it was sold to Mark Garner, publisher of Myrtle Beach's other newspaper, the ''Myrtle Beach Sun'' (started in 1950). HTC Center, originally known as the Student Recreation and Convocation Center, is a 3,370-seat multi-purpose arena located on the campus of Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina. It is home to the Coastal Carolina University men's and women's basketball teams and the women's volleyball teams. The arena replaced Kimbel Arena as Coastal Carolina's basketball and volleyball home. On August 2, 2012, Horry Telephone Cooperative purchased the naming rights to the venue. An earlier planned arena, named YRT2 Arena, was to have opened in 2008. It would have also been home to a future ECHL franchise, the Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz. Conway, South Carolina
Conway is a city in Horry County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 24,849 at the 2020 census, up from 17,103 in 2010 census. It is the county seat of Horry County and is part of the Myrtle Beach metropolitan area. It is the home of Coastal Carolina University.
