Horowhenua College
Horowhenua College is a state co-educational secondary school located in Levin, New Zealand. The school has students from Years 9 to 13 (ages 12 to 18) as of . It was opened in 1940, replacing the secondary school department of Levin School. It is the oldest college in the Horowhenua area. History Horowhenua College has its origins in Levin School, a primary school established in 1890. It was the first school in the Levin area. Levin School incorporated a high school from 1905 until 1939, when it returned to primary only ahead of the opening of Horowhenua College. Buildings The main building of the college, known as A Block, is registered as a historic place by Heritage New Zealand. Levin, New Zealand
Levin (; mi, Taitoko) is the largest town and seat of the Horowhenua District, in the Manawatū-Whanganui region of New Zealand's North Island. It is located east of Lake Horowhenua, around 95 km north of Wellington and 50 km southwest of Palmerston North. The town has a population of making it the 30th largest urban area in New Zealand, and third largest in Manawatū-Whanganui behind Palmerston North and Whanganui. Levin is a service centre for the surrounding rural area, and a centre for light manufacturing. To the west of the main town lies Lake Horowhenua, which covers some 3.9 sq/km. Bob Bell (politician)
Robert Linfield Bell (23 August 1929 – 16 November 2011) was a New Zealand politician of the National Party. He had a farming background and represented the Gisborne electorate in Parliament from 1975 until his defeat in 1984. Early life Bell was born in Blenheim in 1929. His father was Alex Linfield Bell. He received his education at Christchurch Boys' High School, Horowhenua College, and Feilding Agricultural High School. He graduated from Lincoln College in 1951 with a diploma in valuation and farm management. Fraser Colman
Fraser MacDonald Colman (23 February 1925 – 11 April 2008) was a New Zealand politician of the Labour Party. He represented the electorates of Petone from 1967 to 1978, and then when Petone was renamed, Pencarrow from 1978 to 1987, when he retired. He was the cabinet minister chosen to represent New Zealand in 1973 on its warships during their protest against the nuclear weapons testing carried out by France. Darren Colyn Hughes (born 3 April 1978) is a New Zealand former Member of Parliament between 2002 and 2011, first elected at the age of 24. He represented the New Zealand Labour Party, Labour Party and was a Minister outside Cabinet in the Fifth Labour Government of New Zealand. Codie Joshua Dane Taylor (born 31 March 1991) is a New Zealand rugby union footballer who plays as a hooker for Crusaders in Super Rugby, Canterbury in the ITM Cup, and New Zealand internationally. Christopher Neville Charles Small (17 March 1927 – 7 September 2011) was a New Zealand-born musician, educator, lecturer, and author of a number of influential books and articles in the fields of musicology, sociomusicology and ethnomusicology.
