OPM is an American band based in Los Angeles, California. OPM has a distinctive sound, combining hip hop, rock music, and pop with laid-back reggae. Band history Originally called "Stash", the name OPM, according to the band's frontman John E. Necro, is an abbreviation of the phrase "Open People's Minds" (originally "Other People's Money"). This was stated during an interview with MarijuanaRadio.com. The name also sounds like the drug opium. The band's original members were John E. Necro, Matthew Meschery and Geoff Turney, with Gary Dean and Etienne Franc later appointed permanent members in 2001. John E. and Geoff aka Casper first met on a bus ride with their girlfriends in 1996. At the time John E. was a label scout at Island Records and Geoff was in a band called "Alpha Jerk". Bryan Mahoney (born July 30, 1972), known by his stage name Big B, is an American rapper currently signed with Suburban Noize Records as a solo artist. Billboard's discography on every Big B/ref> Along with John E. Necro, he performs vocals in the rap rock band OPM, which is also signed with Suburban Noize. Early career Mahoney was born in Upland, California and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. He started out in a Las Vegas-based band, 187, and was also an original member of the bands Spade Brigade and OPM, as well as a co-founder of Controversy Sells. Nikki Sixx (born Frank Carlton Serafino Feranna Jr.; December 11, 1958) is an American musician, best known as the co-founder, bassist, and primary songwriter of the heavy metal band Mötley Crüe. Prior to forming Mötley Crüe, Sixx was a member of Sister before going on to form London with his Sister bandmate Lizzie Grey. "Stash Up" is the third single released by OPM, and the final from the album '' Menace to Sobriety''. It features samples of Jane's Addiction's Mountain Song, Boss's "I Don't Give a Fuck", Tenor Saw's "Ring The Alarm" and "Gimmie The Loot" performed by The Notorious B.I.G. The song was featured on Kerrang!'s ''The Best of 2001'' compilation. It was re-recorded in 2012 for the Heaven Can Wait EP. Music video The music video was directed by Spencer Susser, who also directed the El Capitan video. The video shows the band attempting to escape from the police by; skateboarding, smashing windows, crashing cars, jumping fences and successfully escaping at the end by driving away in a Getaway car.
