Martin Frič
Martin Frič (29 March 1902 – 26 August 1968) was a Czech film director, screenwriter and actor. He had more than 100 directing credits between 1929 and 1968, including feature films, shorts and documentary films. Throughout his life, Frič struggled with alcoholism. On the day of the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968, he attempted suicide, after battling cancer. He died in the hospital five days later. Hordubal
''Hordubal'' (1933) is a novel by Czech writer Karel Čapek. Based on a true account published in the newspaper '' Lidove noviny'' where the author was a regular contributor, the story is ultimately concerned with the essential unknowability of the inner lives of others, and the impossibility of true communication among men. It is the first in a trilogy of what are known as Capek's "noetic novels," the other two being ''Meteor'' (1934) and '' An Ordinary Life'' (1934). Plot The novel is divided into three parts. In the first part, Juraj Hordubal returns to his home village of Kriva in Carpathian Ruthenia after eight years of working as a coal miner in America. Marta Schölerová (better known by her stage name, Suzanne Marwille; 11 July 1895 – 14 January 1962) was a Czech film actress. Marwille was born in Prague. She had four siblings, and was the daughter of Emerich Schöler and his wife Bedřiška Peceltová. By the age of 18, she married Gustav Schullenbauer. Paľo Bielik
Paľo Bielik (December 11, 1910 – April 23, 1983), also known as Ján Bukva, was a Slovak film director, screenwriter and actor. He was one of notable personalities in the time of beginnings of Slovak cinematography. Life He was born in Banská Bystrica, then part of Austria-Hungary. At the start he played amateur theatre in Banská Bystrica. In the role of Jánošík eponymous game by Jiří Mahen, Karol Plicka noticed him and recommended for the title role in the film Jánošík (1936) to Martin Frič. Karel Hašler
Karel Hašler (31 October 1879 in Prague – 22 December 1941 in Mauthausen) was a Czech songwriter, actor, lyricist, film and theatre director, composer, writer, dramatist, screenwriter and cabaretier. He was murdered in the Mauthausen concentration camp. Biography Hašler studied to be a glove-maker, but he became intererested in theatre at a young age and occasionally performed with amateur theatre ensembles. Karel Čapek (; 9 January 1890 – 25 December 1938) was a Czech writer, playwright and critic. He has become best known for his science fiction, including his novel ''War with the Newts'' (1936) and play ''R.U.R.''
