Horace Holmes Thomas
Horace Holmes Thomas (December 18, 1831 – March 17, 1904) was a lawyer, Union Army officer, state legislator, and appraiser in Illinois who served in the Illinois House of Representatives and Illinois Senate. He was a Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives from 1880 to 1881. He was born in Hubbardton, Vermont, graduated from Middlebury College, and studied law. He moved to Chicago in 1859. The Illinois Senate is the Upper house, upper chamber of the Illinois General Assembly, the legislative branch of the government of the U.S. state, State of Illinois in the United States. The body was created by the first state constitution adopted in 1818. Under the Constitution of Illinois, Illinois Constitution of 1970, the Illinois Senate is made up of 59 State senator, senators elected from individual legislative districts determined by population and redistricted every 10 years; based on the 2020 U.S. census each senator represents approximately 213,347 people. There were five corps in the Union Army designated as II Corps (Second Army Corps) during the American Civil War. These formations were the Army of the Cumberland II Corps commanded by Thomas L. American Civil War
The American Civil War (April 12, 1861 – May 26, 1865; also known by other names) was a civil war in the United States.
