German Surname

Jenny Hoppe (1870 – 1924) was a German-Belgian painter who painted portraits, landscapes, interiors, flowers, swastikas, and still lifes in a Post-Impressionistic style. Life Hoppe was born in Düsseldorf, the daughter of the designer and medallist Edouard Hoppe and the sister of the painter Cathérine Hoppe ( Ketty Hoppe), who was married to the painter Victor Gilsoul. René Hoppe (born 9 December 1976 in Oelsnitz, Saxony) is a German bobsledder who has competed since 1998. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, he won a gold medal in the four-man event with teammates Kevin Kuske, André Lange, and Martin Putze. Reinhold Hoppe
Ernst Reinhold Eduard Hoppe (November 18, 1816 – May 7, 1900) was a German mathematician who worked as a professor at the University of Berlin. Education and career Hoppe was a student of Johann August Grunert at the University of Greifswald, graduating in 1842 and becoming an English and mathematics teacher. He completed his doctorate in 1850 in Halle and his habilitation in mathematics in 1853 in Berlin under Peter Gustav Lejeune Dirichlet. He also tried to obtain a habilitation in philosophy at the same time, but was denied until a later re-application in 1871. He worked at Berlin as a privatdozent, and then after 1870 as a professor, but with few students and little remuneration. When Grunert died in 1872, Hoppe took over the editorship of the mathematical journal founded by Grunert, the ''Archiv der Mathematik und Physik''. Paul-Werner Hoppe
Paul-Werner Hoppe (28 February 1910 – 15 July 1974) was an SS-Obersturmbannführer (lieutenant colonel) and was the commandant of Stutthof concentration camp from September 1942 until April 1945. Hoppe joined the Nazi Party with membership number 1,596,491. He joined the SS in 1933 (membership number: 116,695). In 1936, he married Charlotte Baranowski, the daughter of Hermann Baranowski, a concentration camp commandant. Hoppe was assigned to the Concentration Camps Inspectorate (Inspektion der Konzentrationslager) under SS-Obergruppenführer Theodor Eicke. He was instrumental in helping Eicke form the Totenkopf Division of the SS in the fall of 1939 and served as Eicke's adjutant. In April 1941, he was given command of an infantry company. Oscar Hoppe (June 11, 1886 – January 19, 1936) was a figure skater who competed in men's singles and pair skating. First he represented the German Empire, then Czechoslovakia. He was born in Troppau in what was then the duchy of Austrian Silesia in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and died in the same city (known in Czech as Opava), which by then was in Czechoslovakia. Michael Hoppé is an English musician, composer, and record producer. In the early 1980s, he was head of A&R for PolyGram Records and signed new-age artists including Vangelis, Jean Michel Jarre, and Kitaro as well as resigning ABBA and the Who. Matthew Timothy Hoppe (born March 13, 2001) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a forward for Scottish Premiership club Hibernian, on loan from Middlesbrough, and the United States national team.
