Hopewell is a village in Marshall County, Illinois, United States. The population was 421 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Peoria Metropolitan Statistical Area. The village was incorporated in 1983. Geography Hopewell is located in southwestern Marshall County at (40.983848, -89.456829). Illinois Route 29 leads north from Hopewell to Sparland and south to Chillicothe. The village sits on uplands overlooking the Illinois River valley to the east. IL 29, forming the eastern border of the village, runs along the bottom of the bluffs forming the western edge of the valley. Sterling, Illinois
Sterling is a city in Whiteside County, Illinois, United States, along the Rock River. The population was 14,782 at the 2020 census, down from 15,370 in 2010. Formerly nicknamed "Hardware Capital of the World", the city has long been associated with manufacturing and the steel industry. History In 1834, Hezekiah Brink built the first cabin in what was to become Harrisburg. Two years later, William Kirkpatrick settled downstream in an area that became Chatham.
