Honorina
Saint Honorina (french: Sainte Honorine) is venerated as a saint by the Catholic Church. She is the oldest, most revered virgin martyr in the Normandy area of France but little is known of her. According to a tradition that exists in the diocese of Rouen, Honorina, a member of the Calates, was martyred during the persecutions of Diocletian.Borelli, 2002. The spot of her martyrdom is said to have been Mélamare between Lillebonne and Harfleur. Her body was thrown into the Seine and would have drifted to Graville-Sainte-Honorine, where it was collected by Christians and buried in a tomb.Borelli, 2002. Another tradition holds that she was martyred at Coulonces. Other traditions place Honorina's martyrdom in the Pays d'Auge, where several villages bear her name. Honorine (novel)
''Honorine'' is an 1843 novel by French novelist and playwright Honoré de Balzac (1799-1850) and included in his series of novels (or ''Roman-fleuve'') known as ''La Comédie humaine'' (''The Human Comedy'') which parodies and depicts French society in the period of the Restoration and the July Monarchy (1815-1848). Balzac has a subtle way of approaching his plot indirectly and embedding a story within a story. The story is perhaps a common one of a wife trapped in a marriage, but is approached in an interesting manner. Plot summary Maurice is a Consul at Gênes/Genoa, a Mediterranean town where he has married Onorina the daughter of the only wealthy man into the town, although it seems he was originally extremely reluctant to get married. Honorine Lake
The lac Honorine is a freshwater body on the hydrographic side of the Launière River, of the Jacques-Cartier River, in the unorganized territory of Lac-Jacques-Cartier, in the La Côte-de-Beaupré Regional County Municipality, in the administrative region of Capitale-Nationale, in the province, in Quebec, Canada. The area around the lake is indirectly served by the route 175 which passes on the east side. A few secondary forest roads serve this area for forestry and recreational tourism purposes.
