Hongni Wu
Hongni Wu ( zh, 吴虹霓, link=no; born 1994) is a Chinese mezzo-soprano opera singer. Early life and education Wu was born in Jingdezhen, China. She studied at the Xinghai Conservatory of Music before to moving to the United States. In 2018 she graduated with a certificate in music from the Manhattan School of Music (MSM). While at MSM she was a pupil of Joan Patenaude-Yarnell and performed many roles in such operas as Sesto in ''La clemenza di Tito'', Dragonfly in ''L'enfant et les sortilèges'', Prince Orlofsky in ''Die Fledermaus'' and Angelina in ''La Cenerentola''. The role of Angelina made her a winner at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, during which she also sang a bel canto piece from ''L'italiana in Algeri'' and during intermission performed an opening scene from Richard Strauss's ''Der Rosenkavalier''. Mezzo-soprano
A mezzo-soprano or mezzo (; ; meaning "half soprano") is a type of classical female singing voice whose vocal range lies between the soprano and the contralto voice types. The mezzo-soprano's vocal range usually extends from the A below middle C to the A two octaves above (i.e. A3–A5 in scientific pitch notation, where middle C = C4; 220–880 Hz). Opera Maine - formally PORTopera - is a professional opera company founded in 1994 by group of opera lovers including Bruce Hangen, Jack Riddle, Russ Burleigh, Dona D. Vaughn and others.and based in Portland, Maine, although some of its productions travel within the state. Its name derives from "Portland Opera Repertory Theatre" (PORT). The principal company presents one, or occasionally up to three, operas each summer, and its adjunct Maine Emerging Artists Young Artists Program, founded in 1996, generally presents one more on a smaller scale. Royal Opera House
The Royal Opera House (ROH) is an opera house and major performing arts venue in Covent Garden, central London. The large building is often referred to as simply Covent Garden, after a previous use of the site. It is the home of The Royal Opera, The Royal Ballet, and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House. The first theatre on the site, the Theatre Royal (1732), served primarily as a playhouse for the first hundred years of its history. In 1734, the first ballet was presented. Southbank Sinfonia is a British chamber orchestra founded in 2002. Composed of young professionals from around the world, each year it brings together 33 graduate musicians for a programme of performance and professional development. ''Phaedra'' is a 'concert opera' in two acts by Hans Werner Henze. Its first performance was given at the Berlin State Opera on 6 September 2007. The work is a co-commission and co-production with the Berliner Festspiele, Théâtre de la Monnaie, Brussels, Alte Oper Frankfurt and the Vienna Festival.
