The Hong Kong Champion Sprinter is an honour given in Hong Kong thoroughbred horse racing. It is awarded annually by the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC). Lucky Nine (, originally Luck or Design) is an Irish-bred, Hong Kong based racehorse. He was one of the nominees of 2010-2011 Hong Kong Horse of the Year. Background Lucky Nine is a bay gelding bred in Ireland by the Darley Stud. He was sired by Dubawi, a son of Dubai Millennium who won the Irish 2,000 Guineas and the Prix Jacques Le Marois in 2005. He was originally named Luck or Design. Racing career Luck or Design raced in Ireland as a two-year-old in 2009, winning a maiden race at Naas Racecourse by five lengths. Luck or Design was then sold and exported to race in Hong Kong where he was renamed Lucky Nine. Little Bridge
Little Bridge (5 November 2006 - 5 March 2014) was a racehorse originating from New Zealand. He is best known as the winner of the 2012 Sprinting Champion in Hong Kong and the Winner of the 2012 King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot. Background Little Bridge is a gelding born in 2006 between Faltaat and Golden Rose. He was trained by Hong Kong trainer Danny Shum. Little Bridge began racing in Hong Kong in the 09/10 season. He won his very first race. In the 2012 King's Stand Stakes, Little Bridge was placed in draw 7 with jockey Zac Purton. With his win he became the first New Zealand horse to win a group 1 race at Royal Ascot. Little Bridge has a record of 10 wins out of 22 races. David Hall (racehorse Trainer)
David Joseph Hall (born 27 October 1963 in Adelaide, South Australia) is an Australian horse trainer. The son of trainer, Joe Hall, he obtained his trainer's license in 1988 at Morphettville. In 1993, he moved to race in Melbourne where he became famous for training Makybe Diva to the first of her three successive Melbourne Cup victories in 2003. David Hall was granted a trainer license by the Hong Kong Jockey Club in 2004. In 2010/11, he trained 21 winners and by the end of that season had run up an overall Hong Kong total of 209. In 2013/14 he trained 25 winners, including Bubble Chic who won the HKG3 Premier Plate and HKG3 Queen Mother Memorial Cup. He has accrued an overall Hong Kong total of 292. Silent Witness () (foaled 1 October 1999) was an outstanding Thoroughbred racehorse who won his first 17 starts in sprint races in Hong Kong. He was ranked the world's top sprinter for three seasons. He was bred by Mr I. K. Smith and foaled in 1999 at Edinburgh Park Stud near Taree, New South Wales in Australia. Silent Witness is by El Moxie (USA) out of Jade Tiara by Bureaucracy (NZ). Jade Tiara is the dam of nine named horses. Racing record Silent Witness was trained by Tony Cruz, ridden by Felix Coetzee and owned by Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Antonio da Silva. John Size
John Size (born 10 July 1954) is one of the most successful racehorse trainers in Hong Kong history and was inducted into the Australian Racing Hall Of Fame in 2018. After a successful career in his native Australia, Size arrived in Hong Kong for the 2001-02 season with a reputation for rejuvenating horses set back by illness or injury and for his ability to mould and develop young horses from the beginning of their careers. In his first season, he trained 58 winners to become only the second trainer ever to win the championship title in his first season.
