Lew Lipton
Lew Lipton (February 23, 1897 – December 27, 1961), was an American screenwriter who was active during the latter part of the silent era and the beginning of the talking picture era. During his brief 15-year career, he penned the scripts for 24 films, as well as producing over 20 film shorts. In 1935, he began work on a script entitled ''Harlem Cavalcade''. He authored another half-dozen films during the remaining years of the 1930s, before devoting his efforts full-time to this manuscript. ''Harlem Cavalcade'' was an epic story of life among Black-Americans, beginning with their relationship to the Dutch community of New Amsterdam in 1626, through 1938. A series of vignettes, it incorporated the real-life stories of such notable Americans as Booker T. Washington, Frederick Douglas, George Washington Carver, Joe Lewis, Satchel Paige, and Cab Calloway. Lipton worked on the script right up until his death in 1961. Richard Schayer (December 13, 1880 – March 13, 1956) was an American screenwriter. He wrote for more than 100 films between 1916 and 1956. He was born in Washington, D.C., son of Col. George Frederick Schayer and writer Julia Schayer, and died in Hollywood, California. Polly Moran
Pauline Theresa Moran (June 28, 1883 – January 25, 1952) billed as Polly Moran, was an American actress of vaudeville, stage and screen and comedian. Career Born in Chicago, Illinois, Moran started in vaudeville, and widely toured North America, as well as various other locations that included Europe and South Africa. An attractive beauty of Irish descent, she left vaudeville in 1914 after signing for Mack Sennett at Keystone Studios as one of his Sennett Bathing Beauties. There she honed the style of the brash, loud-mouthed, knock-about comedian by which she later became known. She proved effective at slapstick and remained with Sennett for several years until she was signed by MGM. Harry Gribbon
Harry Peter Gribbon (June 9, 1885 – July 28, 1961) was an American film actor, comedian and director known for ''The Cameraman'' (1928), ''Show People'' (1928) and ''Art Trouble'' (1934). He appeared in more than 140 films between 1915 and 1938. Many of his films from this era have been lost. Early life Harry Peter Gribbon was born on June 9, 1885 in New York City. He was the brother of actor Eddie Gribbon. Career Gribbon started in vaudeville, performing on the Keith, Orpheum, and Pantages circuits, and in 1913 he became the leading man in the ''Ziegfeld Follies.'' Dick Sutherland (born Archibald Thomas Johnson, December 23, 1881 – February 3, 1934) was an American film actor, active mostly during the silent film era. Born in Benton, Kentucky, in 1881, Sutherland appeared in more than 70 films between 1921 and 1932. Sutherland died at his home in Hollywood, California, from a heart attack, at the age of 52. He was survived by his wife, Verba, and three sons, Harry, Everett, and Lester. He is interred at Inglewood Park Cemetery.
