HonestReporting
HonestReporting (also Honest Reporting or honestreporting.com) is a non-governmental organization that "monitors the media for bias against Israel" and has been described by several news outlets as a "pro-Israel media watchdog group". The organization is a United States 501(c)3 registered charity headquartered in New York City, with its editorial staff based in Jerusalem. History HonestReporting (HR) was founded as an email list by Jewish British university students in 2000, and sponsored by the Aish Hatorah Yeshiva, after a skewed news report in the New York Times showed a bleeding boy near a yelling Israeli soldier waving a club. The caption read "An Israeli Policeman and a Palestinian on Temple Mount." Tuvia Grossman is an United States, American-Israeli man who was wrongly identified as a Palestinian Arabs, Palestinian in the caption of an Associated Press (AP) photograph of an Israeli police officer defending him from a violent Arab mob. The photograph, taken and marketed by AP during the Second Intifada in 2000, was published in ''The New York Times'', ''The Wall Street Journal'', and other newspapers worldwide, and, along with the caption provided by AP, gave the impression that the Israeli police officer had brutally beaten a Palestinian. Gil Hoffman
Gil Hoffman is an Israeli journalist and political correspondent who serves as executive director of Honest Reporting. He was previously chief political correspondent for the ''Jerusalem Post''. Early life Hoffman grew up outside of Chicago in Lincolnwood, Illinois. He attended high school at Ida Crown Jewish Academy and graduated magna cum laude from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. He previously worked for the ''Miami Herald'' and the ''Arizona Republic.'' He made Aliyah at age 22 in 1999. After immigrating to Israel, Hoffman served in an artillery unit with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and later served as a spokesperson for the IDF reserves. The Jewish Internet Defense Force (JIDF) was an organization that used social media to mobilize support for campaigns against websites and Facebook groups that promote or praise what it described as Islamic terrorism or antisemitism. The Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America (CAMERA) is an American non-profit pro-Israel media-monitoring, research and membership organization. According to its website, CAMERA is "devoted to promoting accurate and balanced coverage of Israel and the Middle East."
