Honda Prize
The Honda Prize is awarded by the Honda Foundation. It is awarded for "the efforts of an individual or group who contribute new ideas which may lead the next generation in the field of ecotechnology". Harald Rose
Harald Rose (born 14 February 1935 in Bremen) is a German physicist. Rose received in 1964 his physics Diplom in theoretical electron optics under Otto Scherzer at the Technische Universität Darmstadt. From 1976 to 1980 he was principal research scientist at The New York State department of Health. In 1973–1974 he spent one research year at the Enrico Fermi Institute of the University of Chicago and in 1995–1996 one research year at Cornell and the University of Maryland. From 1980 to his retirement in 2000 as professor emeritus, he was active at the University of Darmstadt in the Physics Department. Since 2009 he has held a Carl Zeiss funded Senior Professorship at the University of Ulm. Rose has 105 patents of scientific instruments and electrooptical components. Dabbala Rajagopal "Raj" Reddy (born 13 June 1937) is an Indian-American computer scientist and a winner of the Turing Award. He is one of the early pioneers of artificial intelligence and has served on the faculty of Stanford and Carnegie Mellon for over 50 years. He was the founding director of the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. Donald Mackay (scientist)
Donald Mackay, (born 30 October 1936) is a Canadian scientist and engineer specializing in environmental chemistry. He was a member of the faculty of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry at the University of Toronto and the founding director of the Canadian Environmental Modelling Centre at Trent University. Shuji Nakamura
is a Japanese-born American electronic engineer and inventor specializing in the field of semiconductor technology, professor at the Materials Department of the College of Engineering, University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), and is regarded as the inventor of the blue LED, a major breakthrough in lighting technology. Together with Isamu Akasaki and Hiroshi Amano, he is one of the three recipients of the 2014 Nobel Prize for Physics "for the invention of efficient blue light-emitting diodes, which has enabled bright and energy-saving white light sources". Aleksandra Kornhauser Frazer (26 September 192617 May 2020) was a Slovenian chemist. She was a Professor of Chemistry at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering and Director at the International Centre for Chemical Studies, of the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. Early life Born as Aleksandra Caleari into a wealthy family with five siblings—her father owned what would later become the Jelovica company in Škofja Loka. The family lost their wealth during the Great Depression in the 1930s and she grew up in relative poverty. In 1940 during World War II, at the age of fifteen, she began running a youth organization to support partisans. Her father was imprisoned in the concentration camp in Begunje and the family were roped into forced labor but all survived the war. Hubert Curien
Hubert Curien (30 October 1924 – 6 February 2005) was a French physicist and a key figure in European science politics, as the President of CERN Council (1994–1996), the first chairman of the European Space Agency (ESA) (1981–1984), and second President of the Academia Europæa and a President of Fondation de France.
