"Homophobia" is a song by English rock band Chumbawamba from their sixth studio album ''Anarchy'' (1994). A remixed version of the song featuring the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, titled the "Sisters Mix" was released as the third single from the album in 1994. Concerning the topic of modern homophobia, the song remained a regular part of Chumbawamba's live set from its initial release in 1994 up to the band's retirement in 2012. Live recordings of the song are featured on Chumbawamba's two live albums ''Showbusiness!'' and '' Get On with It''. The Sisters Mix of "Homophobia" received a music video in 1994, featuring a choir of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence members. Chumbawamba () were a British rock band formed in 1982 and disbanded in 2012. They are best known for their 1997 single "Tubthumping", which was nominated for Best British Single at the 1998 Brit Awards. Other singles include "Amnesia", " Enough Is Enough" (with MC Fusion), " Timebomb", "Top of the World (Olé, Olé, Olé)", and "Add Me". The band drew on genres such as punk rock, pop, and folk. Their anarcho-communist political leanings led them to have an irreverent attitude toward authority, and to espouse a variety of political and social causes including animal rights and pacifism (early in their career) and later regarding class struggle, Marxism, feminism, gay liberation, pop culture, and anti-fascism. In July 2012, Chumbawamba announced they were splitting up after 30 years. ''Showbusiness!'' is a 1994 live album by anarchist punk band Chumbawamba. It was recorded on the 18 and 19 August 1994 at the Duchess of York in Leeds. In response to threats from fascists who rang the venue to say they'd turn up mob-handed and trash it "if Chumbawamba play", Leeds Anti-Fascist Action organised security. Fittingly, all the money from both concerts (around £1500) was given to AFA. The album was issued in the United States as the ''For A Free Humanity: For Anarchy'' double CD, coupling ''Showbusiness!'' with Noam Chomsky's ''Capital Rules''. Sisters Of Perpetual Indulgence
The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence (SPI), also called Order of Perpetual Indulgence (OPI) is a charity, protest, and street performance organization that uses drag and religious imagery to call attention to sexual intolerance and satirizes issues of gender and morality. Upon their move to San Francisco from Iowa City in 1979, a small group of gay men in San Francisco began wearing the attire of nuns in visible situations using camp to draw attention to social conflicts and problems in the Castro District.
