''Home: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack'' is the soundtrack album for the 2015 animated film ''Home (2015 animated film), Home'', based on the 2007 children book ''The True Meaning of Smekday'' by Adam Rex. It features songs recorded by Rihanna, The Monsters and the Strangerz, Clarence Coffee Jr., Kiesza, Charli XCX, Jacob Plant, and Jennifer Lopez. It was released on March 13, 2015 through Westbury Road and Roc Nation. Following the announcement that Rihanna would star in the film, it was revealed she would release a concept album based on the animated film. As the executive producer of the soundtrack, she called on various artists to feature on the album. Rihanna's "Towards the Sun (song), Towards the Sun", "Dancing in the Dark (Rihanna song), Dancing in the Dark", "As Real as You and Me" and Jennifer Lopez's "Feel the Light" were released as singles to promote the album and movie. ''The True Meaning of Smekday'' is a 2007 children's book by Adam Rex that was highly recommended by ''The New York Times''. The book was adapted by DreamWorks Animation into the 2015 feature film ''Home''. Rex's second volume in the series, ''Smek for President!'', was published in 2015, prior to the release of ''Home''. The film version, which departed significantly from the books' continuity, was followed by the 2016 animated TV series '' Home: Adventures with Tip & Oh''. An audiobook edition of ''The True Meaning of Smekday'', read by Bahni Turpin, was released on March 8, 2011. Tim Johnson (film Director)
Tim Johnson (born August 27, 1961) is an American film director, film producer, and television director. Johnson is best known for directing the DreamWorks Animation films ''Antz'', '' Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas'', ''Over the Hedge'', and ''Home''. Life and career Johnson was born in Chicago. He studied at Northwestern University where he earned a BA in English Literature. He also produced two animated films; both of which earned Richter Grant Organization Awards. Upon graduating, he worked for two years as a freelance animator and director. His introduction to computer animation came in 1985 while he worked on the staff at Post Effects in Chicago.
