Home (Simply Red Album)
''Home'' is the eighth studio album by British pop and soul band Simply Red, released in 2003. It is the first Simply Red album released on band frontman Mick Hucknall's own record label, Simplyred.com. The album was a success all around the world, and includes the hit singles, "Sunrise", "Fake", "You Make Me Feel Brand New" and "Home". The album includes three cover versions: the Bob Dylan song, "Positively 4th Street", The Stylistics' soul hit, "You Make Me Feel Brand New", and the Dennis Brown song, "Money in My Pocket". "Sunrise" borrows a loop from the 1981 Hall & Oates song "I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)", as well as some of the lyrics. Simply Red
Simply Red are a British soul and pop band formed in Manchester in 1985. The lead vocalist of the band is singer and songwriter Mick Hucknall, who, by the time the band initially disbanded in 2010, was the only original member left. Since the release of their debut studio album ''Picture Book'' (1985), they have had ten songs reach top 10 in the UK Singles Chart, including "Holding Back the Years" and "If You Don't Know Me by Now", both of which reached number one on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100. They have had five number one albums in the UK, with their 1991 album, ''Stars'', being one of the best-selling albums in UK chart history. At the 1992 and 1993 Brit Awards, they received the award for Best British Group. "I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)" is a song by the American duo Daryl Hall and John Oates. Written by Daryl Hall, John Oates and Sara Allen, the song was released as the second single from their tenth studio album, '' Private Eyes'' (1981). The song became the fourth number one hit single of their career on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. It features Charles DeChant on saxophone. Composition Daryl Hall sketched out the basic song one evening at a music studio in New York City, in 1981, after a recording session for the ''Private Eyes'' album. Soul music is a popular music genre that originated in the African American community throughout the United States in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The Stylistics are an American, Philadelphia soul group that achieved their greatest chart success in the 1970s. They formed in 1968, with a lineup of singers Russell Thompkins Jr., Herb Murrell, Airrion Love, James Smith and James Dunn. All of their US hits were ballads characterized by the falsetto of Russell Thompkins Jr. and the production of Thom Bell. It was released as a single by Columbia Records on September 7, 1965, reaching on Canada's ''RPM (magazine), RPM'' chart, on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100, and on the UK Singles Chart.
