Homa (woreda)
Homa is one of the Aanaas in the Oromia Region of Ethiopia. It is part of the West Welega Zone. It was separated from Gimbi woreda. It is bounded by Haru in the east, Lalo Asabi in the west and Genji in the south. The administrative center for this woreda is Homa. Demographics The 2007 national census reported a total population for this woreda of 24,557 in 4,878 households, of whom 12,134 were men and 12,423 were women; 2,484 or 10.12% of its population were urban dwellers. Homa Katouzian
Homa Katouzian (Persian: همايون کاتوزیان; born Homayoun Katouzian on 17 November 1942) is an economist, historian, sociologist and literary critic, with a special interest in Iranian studies. Katouzian's formal academic training was in economics and the social sciences but he concurrently continued his studies of Persian history and literature at a professional academic level. He began studying the life and works of the modern Persian writer, Sadeq Hedayat, and that of the Prime Minister of Iran in the early 1950s, Mohammad Mosaddeq, while still a faculty member in the department of economics at the University of Kent at Canterbury. Having taught economics at universities in Britain and other countries for eighteen years, he took voluntary retirement in 1986 to devote his entire time to Iranian studies. Homa (ritual)
In the Vedic Hinduism, a homa (Sanskrit: होम) also known as havan, is a fire ritual performed on special occasions by a Hindu priest usually for a homeowner (" grihastha": one possessing a home). The grihasth keeps different kinds of fire including one to cook food, heat his home, amongst other uses; therefore, a Yajna offering is made directly into the fire. A homa is sometimes called a "sacrifice ritual" because the fire destroys the offering, but a homa is more accurately a "votive ritual". The fire is the agent, and the offerings include those that are material and symbolic such as grains, ghee, milk, incense and seeds. It is rooted in the Vedic religion, and was adopted in ancient times by Buddhism and Jainism. The practice spread from India to Central Asia, East Asia and Southeast Asia. Tex La Homa is a Dorset, UK-based post-rock project formed in the year 2000 by Matthew Shaw (guitar, keyboards, vocals, other instruments). The music combines "soft vocals with sort of distortion, surrounded by soft melodies, guitars and a bit of electronics to create almost pop-like modern ballads". Stay Homas are a Spanish musical trio created as a result of the preventive lockdown to stop the spread of COVID-19 in spring 2020. There are three members in the group: Klaus Stroink (trumpet player in Buhos, Nil Moliner and Horny Section, and voice actor), Guillem Boltó (trombone player and singer in Doctor Prats) and Rai Benet ( bass player in Buhos and Nil Moliner). They became roommates in a flat in the Eixample district of Barcelona a few months before the pandemic outbreak. The band's name, Stay Homas, is a play on words with the expression “stay home”. Peter Michael Homa is a British health service manager. He started work in the National Health Service in 1979 as a hospital porter after which he commenced the NHS National Management Training Scheme in London in 1981 and was chief executive at Leicester Royal Infirmary in 1989, when it was one of two national pilot hospitals to achieve significant improvement in both the quality and efficiency of patient care. He was appointed a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours in 2000 for contributions to the health service. Bernard Homa (1900 – September 1991) was a British medical doctor and politician, who served on London County Council. Born in Whitechapel as Bernard Deichowsky, he was educated at the Yeshivah Etz Chaim in Aldgate, then studied medicine. During this period, he became the chair of the London Mizrachi Students' Society, and he later chaired the Mizrachi Organisation of Great Britain. For 37 years, he served as president of the Machzikei Hadath Synagogue. Homa joined the Labour Party, and at the 1934 London County Council election, he was elected in Hackney Central. Homa Rousta ( fa, هما روستا ; 26 September 1946 – 26 September 2015) was an Iranian film and stage actress. She was the widow of stage director Hamid Samandarian. She graduated with a degree in theatre from the School of Dramatic Arts in Bucharest. She started her career in 1971.
