Holy Water (The Triffids Song)
"Holy Water" was the third single taken from Australian rock group The Triffids' ''Calenture (album), Calenture'' album, and was released in August 1988. It was produced by Craig Leon (The Ramones, Blondie (band), Blondie, The Bangles) and was written by lead guitarist and lead singer David McComb. This was one of only two tracks (the other was "Bury Me Deep in Love") that resulted from Leon's production of the band's fourth album. The production costs of Leon's efforts were more than the total costs of the band's break-through album, ''Born Sandy Devotional''. The record sleeve however credits the production to Gil Norton who produced the remainder of the album with the band. The single was released as 7", 12" and CD single versions by Island Records but failed to chart in either Australia or the United Kingdom. Lennon–McCartney was the songwriting partnership between English musicians John Lennon (1940–1980) and Paul McCartney (born 1942) of the Beatles. ''Trouser Press'' was a rock and roll magazine started in New York in 1974 as a mimeographed fanzine by editor/publisher Ira Robbins, fellow fan of the Who Dave Schulps and Karen Rose under the name "Trans-Oceanic Trouser Press" (a reference to a song by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band and an acronymic play on the British TV show ''Top of the Pops)''. Raining Pleasure (EP)
''Raining Pleasure'' is a record released in 1984 by the Australian folk rock group The Triffids as a 12" vinyl EP. It reached No. 95 on the Australian Charts. Note: Used for Australian Singles and Albums charting from 1970 until ARIA created their own charts in mid-1988. Its seven tracks were co-produced by the group with Nick Mainsbridge who also supplied trumpet. Although the EP has not been in print for some time, selected tracks appeared on the '' Love in Bright Landscapes'' (1986) and ''Australian Melodrama'' (1994) compilations, while all seven tracks were compiled on '' Beautiful Waste and Other Songs'' in 2008. ''Treeless Plain'' is the debut album by The Triffids, released in November, 1983. The album was recorded at Emerald City Studios, Sydney, Australia in twelve midnight to dawn sessions, during August through to September 1983. It was the band's first release after signing with Hot Records. A remastered version of the album, with seven bonus live tracks recorded in 1983, was released in Australia in June 2008 through Liberation Music. Details David McComb later said, "I don't think it's a great record, but at least we tried to do a few things that pub bands wouldn't normally do. For a lot of the underground scene all across Australia, we just weren't hard rock enough. We used to have a thing against pedals."
