Holy Mountain (band)
Holy Mountain is a psychedelic rock band from Glasgow, Scotland, comprising Andy McGlone (guitar and vocals), Pete Flett (drums) and Allan Stewart ( Idlewild/ Desalvo). The band is currently signed to Chemikal Underground Records. History Formation Andy McGlone and Pete Flett met in the Captains Rest in Glasgow, December 2008 and started the band as a two-piece. They were later joined by Allan Stewart in April 2010. They take their name from the 1973 film by Alejandro Jodorowsky. ''Earth Measures'' (2008-2012) Earth Measures was recorded in the Diving Bell Lounge, Glasgow in July 2010. The session was engineered by Marcus Mackay (Frightened Rabbit), mixed by Iain Cook (of Aereogramme, The Unwinding Hours, Chvrches), and mastered by Kenny MacLeod (Mogwai, Sons and Daughters). ''Drowned in Sound'', sometimes abbreviated to ''DiS'', is a UK-based music webzine financed by artist management company Silentway. Founded by editor Sean Adams, the site features reviews, news, interviews, and discussion forums. History ''DiS'' began as an email fanzine in 1998 called ''The Last Resort'' but was relaunched by founder and editor Sean Adams as ''Drowned in Sound'' in 2000. The freelance writing team is currently spread across four continents – North America, Asia, Europe and Australasia. The site is mostly based on contributions from unpaid writers and has an integrated forum to allow for discussion and comments on interviews, news and reviews. "War Pigs" is an anti-war protest song by English heavy metal band Black Sabbath, released in 1970, it is the opening track from the band's second studio album ''Paranoid'' (1970). Overview The original title of "War Pigs" was "Walpurgis", dealing with the witches' sabbath. "Walpurgis is sort of like Christmas for Satanists. And to me, war was the big Satan", said bassist and lyricist Geezer Butler. "It wasn’t about politics or government or anything. It was Evil itself. So I was saying 'generals gathered in the masses / just like witches at black masses' to make an analogy. But when we brought it to the record company, they thought 'Walpurgis' sounded too Satanic. Black Sabbath
Black Sabbath were an English rock music, rock band formed in Birmingham in 1968 by guitarist Tony Iommi, drummer Bill Ward (musician), Bill Ward, bassist Geezer Butler and vocalist Ozzy Osbourne. Emma Pollock (born 20 December 1972) is a Scottish singer-songwriter, musician, and a founding member of the bands the Delgados and the Burns Unit. Paul Savage (musician)
Paul Savage (born January 1971) is a Scottish musician and record producer, best known for being the drummer in the Scottish indie rock group The Delgados. Early life Savage was born in Glasgow in January 1971. As a child, he grew up in the United States before returning to Scotland in 1983. Career The Delgados At school in Motherwell he met Alun Woodward and Stewart Henderson. Early bands including these three were Megan's Frame and Bubblegum. When they were forced out of Bubblegum, they formed their own band with Paul's girlfriend, Emma Pollock, and called themselves The Delgados. The Twilight Sad are a Scottish post-punk/indie rock band, comprising James Graham (vocals), Andy MacFarlane (guitar), Johnny Docherty (bass), Brendan Smith (keyboards) and Grant Hutchison (drums). Shrinebuilder was an American stoner/doom metal supergroup consisting of various established musicians, particularly of the doom metal subgenre. Their first and only album, ''Shrinebuilder'', was released in October 2009. History Founding The band's origins were established around 2003–04, when Al Cisneros of the band Om contacted Scott "Wino" Weinrich and proposed that they form a new collaborative three piece group with Om drummer Chris Hakius. Cisneros named the band, and it was intended that Wino would be the only vocalist. A few years later, and after sporadically working on some music together, Cisneros enlisted Neurosis frontman Scott Kelly on guitar and vocals to round out the band to a four-piece. Eurosonic Noorderslag is an annual four-day music showcase festival and conference held in January in Groningen, Netherlands. The first three days of the festival (Eurosonic) feature artists from all over Europe, the last day of the festival (Noorderslag) features only Dutch artists. The conference is held during all four days of the event.
