Hollywood Today
''Hollywood Today'' is an American television program that was broadcast on NBC from January 3, 1955, until September 23, 1955. Gossip columnist Sheilah Graham was the initial host, with the program running 15 minutes each weekday. Each week featured a celebrity as co-host. During the summer, the show was lengthened to 30 minutes and renamed ''Hollywood Backstage''. Later that summer, Ern Westmore replaced Graham as host. Sheilah Graham
Sheilah Graham (born Lily Shiel; 15 September 1904 – 17 November 1988) was a British-born, nationally syndicated American gossip columnist during Hollywood's "Golden Age". In her youth, she had been a showgirl and a freelance writer for Fleet Street in London. These early experiences would converge in her career in Hollywood, which spanned nearly four decades, as a successful columnist and author. Graham also was known for her relationship with F. Scott Fitzgerald, a relationship she played a significant role in immortalizing through the autobiographical ''Beloved Infidel,'' a bestseller that was made into a film. Early life Graham was born Lily Shiel in Leeds, England, the youngest of Rebecca (Blashman) and Louis Shiel's eight children (two died). Her parents were Ukrainian Jews. Ernest Henry Westmore (October 29, 1904 – February 1, 1967),Frank Westmore and Muriel Davidson. ''The Westmores of Hollywood''. J. B. Lippincott, New York City, 1976. was a Hollywood make-up artist and sometimes actor, the third child in George Westmore's famed Westmore family tree. The Ern Westmore Show
''The Ern Westmore Hollywood Glamour Show'' (also known as ''The Ern Westmore Show'') is an American television program that was syndicated in 1953 and carried on ABC from August 7, 1955, until September 11, 1955. The show was hosted by Hollywood make-up artist Ern Westmore, who offered beauty tips to viewers and gave a makeover to a member of the studio audience, who was then serenaded by a vocal singer, similar to the end of the Miss America Pageant. It was produced by Kroger Babb and, along with ''Turn to a Friend'', was part of a two-program entry by ABC into daytime TV. Besides Westmore, the show featured Dick Hyde, Betty Egan, Eddie Varden, Helen Winston, and Robert and Helen Little.
