The Hollywood Museum is a museum in Hollywood, California, that houses a collection of memorabilia from the history of American motion pictures and television. It is housed in the historic Max Factor Building on Highland AvenueHollywood Museum website. Retrieved May 18, 2015 designed by American architect Simeon Charles Lee. The collection of the Hollywood Museum contains over 11,000 items, including costumes, props, stop motion figures, photographs, scripts, and other artifacts. Highland Avenue (Los Angeles)
Highland Avenue is a north–south road in Los Angeles. It is a major thoroughfare that runs from Cahuenga Boulevard and the US 101 Freeway in Hollywood from the north end to Olympic Boulevard in Mid-City Los Angeles on the south end. Highland then is a small residential street from Olympic Boulevard south to Adams Boulevard. For through access, Highland swerves west into Edgewood Place which accesses La Brea Avenue. Simeon Charles Lee
S. Charles Lee (September 5, 1899 - January 27, 1990) was an American architect recognized as one of the most prolific and distinguished motion picture theater designers on the West Coast. Life Early life Simeon Charles Levi was born in Chicago in 1899 to American-born parents of German-Jewish ancestry, Julius and Hattie (Stiller) Levi. He grew up going to vaudeville theatres, nickelodeons, and early movie houses. A tinkerer interested in mechanical things, Lee built three motorcars as a teenager. His interest in mechanics led him to Lake Technical High School in Chicago, where he graduated in 1916. Mel's Drive-In is a term referring to two American restaurant chains, successors of a restaurant founded in 1947 by Mel Weiss and Harold Dobbs in San Francisco, California. It is closely associated with the film ''American Graffiti''. Locations and naming There are a number of Mel's in Northern California that share the same general ''American Graffiti'' nostalgia theme and the similarly styled Mel's logo. These restaurants are called “Original Mels”.
