''Hollywood Barn Dance'' is a 1947 American film starring Ernest Tubb. It was based on the CBS radio program of the same name, which was originally hosted by Cottonseed Clark, which, in turn, was a "replacement" for Gene Autry's ''Gene Autry's Melody Ranch, Melody Ranch'' radio show, aired while the famed singing cowboy was serving in the Army Air Force during World War II. Jack Schwarz bought the film rights in 1947. Biography Born in Missouri, Boyce moved to Hollywood in the early 1940s to pursue a career in acting. Jack Irving Schwarz (December 19, 1896January 6, 1987) was an independent producer of low-budget feature films in the 1940s and 1950s. Early life Jack Schwarz was born in Chicago, the son of Adolph Schwarz, a traveling clothing salesman, and Dora (Goodman) Schwarz, according to the 1910 US census. He operated a small chain of movie theaters in Kentucky and Indiana in the 1930s, and decided to enter the more lucrative field of film production in 1942.
