Holly State Recreation Area is a state recreation area in Groveland Township, near Holly, Michigan. Park Information Covering of rolling woodland and open fields, the park area is bisected by Dixie Highway and Interstate 75, with a majority of park features to the east, and the Holdbridge Lakes Mountain Bike Area to the west, featuring the Gruber's Grinder trail. Features include an 18-hole disc golf course, of hiking and mountain biking trails, a model airplane flying field, opportunities for swimming, fishing, boating, and hunting. Winter activities include cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. Camping is provided for at 160 campsites and 3 rustic cabins, one of which is the Rolston Cabin. Groveland Township is a civil township of Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 5,476 at the 2010 census. Groveland Township was established in 1835. Dixie Highway was a United States auto trail first planned in 1914 to connect the Midwest with the South. It was part of a system and was expanded from an earlier Miami to Montreal highway. Gruber's Grinder a mountain bike trail in Holly, Michigan, United States. Paul Gary Gruber was born and lived in Michigan. Once a hard core mountain bike rider and racer, he took second place with Tail Wind Production and the MMBA Points Series. He was instrumental in developing a race venue that included bike races at the ''Big M'' and ''Owasippi'' trails. Disc golf, also known as frisbee golf, is a flying disc sport in which players throw a disc at a target; it is played using rules similar to golf. Most disc golf discs are made out of polypropylene plastic, otherwise known as polypropene, which is a thermoplastic polymer resin used in a wide variety of applications. Rolston Cabin
Constructed between the years of 1938 and 1939 the Rolston Cabin is located within Holly Recreation Area in Holly, Michigan. It is one of the few remaining rustic cabins within the state parks of Michigan. History In 1938, William Rolston built a rustic log cabin on land he had purchased from a friend, Mr. Chandler. His wife Francis Rolston and friends John and Ruth Gaskin also helped with the construction. For years to come it was the site of a turkey shoot, gatherings of friends and family and campfires. Michigan Renaissance Festival
The Michigan Renaissance Festival (Mich Ren Fest) is a Renaissance fair, an interactive outdoor event that focuses on recreating the look and feel of a fictional English village called Hollygrove during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I in the latter half of the 16th century. A large number of patrons also regularly attend the festival in costume further fleshing out the streets with nobles, pirates, Vikings, wizards, rogues, wenches, and an assortment of fantasy characters. Seven Lakes State Park
Seven Lakes State Park is a public recreation area covering one mile northwest of Holly in Holly Township, Oakland County, Michigan. The state park's of water are found in six named lakes that include 170-acre Big Seven Lake, Little Seven Lake, and 44-acre Dickinson Lake. History The park's roots lie in a failed development scheme. In 1967, private interests built a dam on Swartz Creek in the Flint River watershed to create one large lake, Decoup Lake, from seven small lakes.
