Holloway Press was established at the University of Auckland in the Library of the Tamaki Campus in 1994. Alan Loney
Alan Perress Loney is a writer, poet, editor, publisher and letterpress printer. His work has been published by University and private presses in New Zealand, Australia and North America. His own presses have printed and published many of New Zealand's most noted poets. He has also produced books himself, and in collaboration with artists and printmakers in New Zealand and overseas. Originally living and working in New Zealand, he now resides in Melbourne, Australia. Early life and work Born in Lower Hutt, New Zealand in 1940, the eldest of eight children in a working-class family, he left school at the age of fifteen. Music provided him with a youthful entry into Wellington's bohemian and intellectual scene as he played the drums in several bands including the University Jazz Club. Te Herenga Waka University Press or THWUP (formerly Victoria University Press) is the book publishing arm of Victoria University of Wellington, located in Wellington, New Zealand. As of 2022, the press had published around 800 books. History Victoria University Press was founded in the early 1970s, with a single staff member. Fergus Barrowman joined it in 1985 as publisher and remains in charge of the press. By 2005 the staff had grown to four and the press was publishing on average 15 titles a year. By 2011 this had grown to 25 titles annually, including six or seven poetry books. In 2019, Victoria University adopted the Māori name Te Herenga Waka ("the mooring place of canoes"), which previously just referred to the university marae. Peter Alan Simpson (born 1942) is an academic, writer, literary critic, and former New Zealand politician of the Labour Party. Early life Simpson was born in Tākaka in 1942. From 1955 to 1959, he was educated at Nelson College, where he was a prefect and member of the school's 1st XV rugby union team in his final year. He gained a MA (Hons) from the University of Canterbury, and a PhD from the University of Toronto with a 1975 thesis titled '' 'Wordsworth to Hardy: lines of relationship and continuity in nineteenth century English poetry' ''.
