Holloway Dramatic Company
Charles Holloway (1848 – 29 November 1908) was a stage actor and manager in Australia. History Holloway was born the youngest son of William Michael Holloway and Emma Holloway née Symonds. He grew up in the Goulburn district of New South Wales, and was an active member of the Goulburn Amateur Dramatic Club, whose members included J. J. "Jack" Kennedy (April 1857 – 22 May 1896). For many years he was a prominent member of Bland Holt's company at the Theatre Royal. He was in 1884 a member of the cast for the premiere season of Charles Darrell's '' The Sunny South'' at the Melbourne Opera House. In 1887 he formed the Charles Holloway Dramatic Company, playing drama such as Sims and Buchanan's ''The English Rose'', then turned to comedy and melodrama with Pinero's '' The Magistrate'', Frank Harvey's melodramas '' Judge Not'', and ''Ring of Iron''. Goulburn, New South Wales
Goulburn ( ) is a regional city in the Southern Tablelands of the Australian state of New South Wales, approximately south-west of Sydney, and north-east of Canberra. Alexandra Theatre, Melbourne
Her Majesty's Theatre is a 1,700-seat theatre in Melbourne's East End Theatre District, Australia. Built in 1886, it is located at 219 Exhibition Street, Melbourne. It is classified by the National Trust of Australia and is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register. Purchased in 2000 by Mike Walsh, the theatre was restored and refitted to accommodate larger productions. Eugenie Duggan
Eugenie Marian Duggan (1872 – 2 November 1936) was a popular Australian stage actress. She was the sister of the actors Edmund, P.J. and Kathleen Duggan. She began studying acting, won a number of elocution competitions and made her professional debut in 1890 in ''Romeo and Juliet''. She joined the company of theatre entrepreneur William Anderson, and later married him. She played a wide range of roles throughout Australia and New Zealand, including the title part in the original 1907 production of '' The Squatter's Daughter''. In 1910 she played Princess Monica in '' The Prince and the Beggar Maid'' in a tour of Australia. In 1911 she appeared in the short film of The Christian as Glory Quayle. In 1920 she toured with her own company, the Eugenie Duggan Company. She later retired from acting and established a drama school. George Marlow (24 September 1876 – 21 May 1939) (born Joseph Marks) was an Australian theatrical entrepreneur born in London of Jewish extraction, noted for bringing melodrama and pantomime to Sydney audiences in the early 1900s. His name has been frequently mis-spelled as "George Marlowe". History Marlow was born Joseph Lewis Marks (or Marx) to Morris Marks (1834 – 21 January 1920) and his wife Celia Marks, née Jones, (1835 – 29 December 1898). Among his siblings were A. Frank Crossley (actor)
Frank Harold Crossley (3 May 1874 – 11 August 1943) was an Australian comedian. History Crossley was born at Kew, Victoria, the youngest of four children of Henry Crossley and Elizabeth Jane Crossley (née Barnes). He appeared in companies led by George Rignold J. C. Williamson, William Anderson, George Marlow, and Bland Holt, best remembered for his role as "Karl Von Pumpernick", the polite lunatic, in an early Melbourne production of '' The Belle of New York'' and the burlesque ''Fun on the Bristol'', which starred John F. Sheridan. He enrolled with the First AIF in July 1916 and was posted to the 18th Reinforcements of the 23rd Battalion. He served overseas before being attached to the 1st Australian Concert Party, called The Anzac Coves, which was formed by General Birdwood, and became famous in England and Scotland. Maggie Moore
Maggie Moore (April 10, 1851 – March 15, 1926) was an American-Australian actress born as Margaret Virginia Sullivan. She met and married producer J. C. Williamson in the U.S. and became popular as an actress in their production of '' Struck Oil'', which premiered in 1873 and was revived many times. Soon after their marriage, they took the play on a tour of Australia. It was such a success that they stayed there, where he founded the most successful theatrical company in Australia, and she became a leading actress. ''The Argus'' was an Australian daily morning newspaper in Melbourne from 2 June 1846 to 19 January 1957, and was considered to be the general Australian newspaper of record for this period. Walter Reynolds (playwright)
Walter Reynolds (died 1327) was Bishop of Worcester and then Archbishop of Canterbury (1313–1327) as well as Lord High Treasurer and Lord Chancellor. Early career Reynolds was the son of a baker from Windsor, Berkshire, and became a clerk, or chaplain, in the service of Edward I. Reynolds held several livings and, owing perhaps to his acting skill, he became a prime favourite with the Prince of Wales, afterwards Edward II, whom he served as Keeper of the Great Wardrobe. Just after the prince became king, on 22 August 1307 Reynolds, was appointed Treasurer of England. On 13 November 1307 Reynolds, who had the living of St Mary's Church, Wimbledon was elected Bishop of Worcester and consecrated on 13 October 1308. He was also on 6 July 1310 named Keeper of the Great Seal and Lord Chancellor of England. Gertrude Warden (1859–1925) was an English actress and writer, who wrote over 30 novels under her stage name, her name at birth being Gertrude Isobel Price and her married name Mrs John Wilton Jones. Life Warden began life as Gertrude Isobel Price, the daughter of a stockbroker. Born in Brixton on 27 May 1859, she was educated in Brighton and France. After a brief stint as a governess, Warden became an actress, working in both the London and provincial theatres, as well as touring America with Lillie Langtry. She performed in ''Judah'' at the Shaftesbury Theatre with Bessie Hatton in 1890. She married John Wilton Jones, an actor and writer in 1889, and the couple collaborated on plays together, but he died in 1897. She remarried Auguste Devot de Quillacq in 1899.
