Hollie Fullbrook
Hollie Fullbrook is an Auckland-based singer and multi instrumentalist who is the face of Tiny Ruins. She collaborated with Hamish Kilgour on the ''Hurtling Through'' EP. Background Fullbrook was born in 1985 and is originally from Bristol, England. She migrated to New Zealand with her family at the age of 10. Career In later years, she performed under the alias of Tiny Ruins which later expanded to become a full band. She collaborated with Hamish Kilgour and the result of their efforts was the ''Hurtling Through'' EP which was released in 2015. In 2016, Fullbrook teamed up with Kilgour and former Terrorways and Gary Havoc & The Hurricanes drummer Gary Hunt for a live rendition of the songs from the ''Hurtling Through'' release. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". Hamish Kilgour
Hamish Kilgour (17 March 1957 – November or December 2022) was a New Zealand musician who co-founded the indie rock band The Clean with his brother David in 1978. Kilgour also co-founded the band Bailter Space in 1987 and later recorded as a solo artist. Career Kilgour was born in Christchurch on 17 March 1957. After the Clean broke up, Kilgour co-founded the Christchurch space rock band Bailter Space in 1987, and recorded the ''Nelsh Bailter Space'' EP and ''Tanker'' album with the band. In the late 1980s, while on a promotional tour with Bailter Space in New York City, Kilgour decided to remain in the city and leave left the band. While in New York, Kilgour co-founded the band The Mad Scene in the early 1990s with guitarist and bassist Lisa Siegel. Hurtling Through
''Hurtling Through'' is a joint effort EP /mini-album by Hollie Fullbrook, Tiny Ruins, and Hamish Kilgour of The Clean. Background In 2013, Hollie Fullbrook met Hamish Kilgour in New York City and they did some shows together. On the final day of their string of shows, they recorded two tracks with producer Gary Olson in a basement studio. That was the start of it. The following year, Fullbrook went back to the States and she and Kilgour recorded more tracks. Terrorways, not to be confused with Punk bands The Tearaways from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, or from Hertfordshire, England, were a New Zealand punk rock band from Auckland, who were big on the local punk scene. They are also remembered for their songs "She's a Mod" and "Never Been to Borstal". Background The group which played at the Zwines club was a favourite of Aucklands Boot Boys. At the end of 1978, drummer Kerry Buchanan was replaced by Gary Hunt who had come from Gary Havoc & The Hurricanes. The original band called it a day and their final performance was on 1 December 1979. In 1980, the group got together to play a gig at the XS Café. The group appears on the Ripper Records ''AK79'' compilation. Later years Kerry Buchanan would become a journalist and write for ''Real Groove'' magazine. Gary Havoc & The Hurricanes
RTC is a New Zealand record label which licensed recordings from overseas Independent labels in the United States and in the United Kingdom. Background The label was started in the late 1970s by John McCready, Brian Pitts, and Warwick Woodward. While still a fledgling indie distributor, they had Kama Fitzgerald in their employ who had previously worked for PolyGram marketing manager Stuart Rubin. In 1980, it was reported by Phil Gifford in the October 11 issue of '' Billboard'' that as an independent NZ label they had made a first. With the artists on their label having both an album and single at no 1 on the NZ charts, it was the first time an Independent label in New Zealand had achieved this. Street Chant
Street Chant is a New Zealand indie rock band who are signed to Flying Nun Records. The band formed in Auckland in late 2007 with Emily Edrosa on guitar and vocals, Billie Rogers on bass and backing vocals and Mikey Sperring on drums, originally with the name Mean Street. In 2009, Sperring left and was replaced by Alex Brown and the band changed their name to Street Chant.
