Hollidaysburg Historic District
The Hollidaysburg Historic District is a national historic district which is located in Hollidaysburg, Blair County, Pennsylvania. History and architectural features This district includes four hundred and twenty-six contributing buildings, which are located in the central business district and surrounding residential areas of Hollidaysburg. The buildings are primarily frame and brick, with some dating as early as the 1830s. Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania
Hollidaysburg is a borough in and the county seat of Blair County in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. It is located on the Juniata River, south of Altoona and is part of the Altoona, Pennsylvania, metropolitan statistical area. In 1900, 2,998 people lived in the borough, in 1910, 3,734 lived there, and in 1940, 5,910 residents were counted. The population was 5,641 at the 2020 census. Coal, iron ore, ganister, and limestone are found in the vicinity. In the past, the borough had foundries and machine shops, a silk mill, car works and classification yards. From 1834 to 1854, the borough was an important port on Pennsylvania Main Line Canal, where the Juniata Division Canal connected to the Allegheny Portage Railroad. Blair County Courthouse
Blair County Courthouse is a historic courthouse building located at Hollidaysburg, Blair County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1875–1876, and is a "T" shaped stone building in the Gothic Revival style. The entrance is flanked by two square, three-story towers with truncated pyramidal roofs. The building generally features elaborate stonework and a five-story clock tower topped by a tall stone spire. A three-story rear addition was built in 1906. Highland Hall, also known as the Courthouse Annex, was a Presbyterian seminary, an historic school building for females, a radio school during World War II, and a county office building before it became a retirement home in 2016. It is located in Hollidaysburg, Blair County, Pennsylvania. Highland Hall was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. History and architectural features Designed by noted Philadelphia architect Samuel Sloan (1815-1884), Highland Hall was built sometime around 1865.
