Holiday World
Holiday World & Splashin' Safari, formerly named Santa Claus Land, is a theme park and water park located in Santa Claus, Indiana, United States. The theme park opened in 1946 and features rides, live entertainment, and games that are divided into four sections that celebrate Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the Fourth of July. Holiday World features three wooden roller coasters, most notably The Voyage, which has consistently ranked in ''Amusement Today''s Golden Ticket Awards as one of the best in the world. Holiday World also features 2 steel coasters. The water park, Splashin' Safari, opened in 1993 and features two of the longest water coasters in the world, Wildebeest and Guinness World Record Holder Mammoth. Santa Claus, Indiana
Santa Claus is a town in Spencer County, Indiana, United States, in the southwestern part of the state. The population was 2,586 at the 2020 census. It is home to numerous Christmas themed attractions, including Holiday World & Splashin' Safari and Santa's Candy Castle. The town was established in 1854 and known as Santa Fe (), but was unable to establish a post office as there was already another Santa Fe, Indiana. Several town meetings were held, during which the name ''Santa Claus'' was selected. The town has the world's only post office to bear the name of the eponymous Christmas figure. Because of this popular name, the post office receives thousands of letters to Santa from all over the world each year. A group of volunteers known as Santa's Elves ensures each child receives a reply from Santa Claus; this tradition has been in existence since at least 1914. The Raven (roller Coaster)
The Raven is a wooden roller coaster at Holiday World & Splashin' Safari's Halloween section in Santa Claus, Indiana, United States. It began to be designed and built in 1994 by the now-defunct roller coaster manufacturer Custom Coasters International, with the help of designers Dennis McNulty and Larry Bill. The roller coaster opened on May 6, 1995. The Raven takes its name from Edgar Allan Poe's poem "The Raven" and features sudden drops and turns which mimic the flight of a raven. From 2000 to 2003, The Raven was voted the world's "Best Wooden Roller Coaster" at the Golden Ticket Awards, which are presented annually by Amusement Today magazine. Indiana State Road 245
State Road 245 in the U.S. state of Indiana is a two-lane north–south highway in that runs entirely within Spencer County in the southwest corner of the state. Route description State Road 245 begins at State Road 70 east of Newtonville and runs north. Passing through Santa Claus, it is concurrent with State Road 162 and serves the Holiday World & Splashin' Safari theme park. Past the park, the concurrent routes run along Christmas Boulevard, while the northern stretch of State Road 245 that leads northwest out of town toward Dale is called Holiday Boulevard. State Road 245 ends at State Road 62 east of Dale. Indiana Beach
Indiana Beach is an amusement park located on Lake Shafer in Monticello, Indiana. The resort was developed by the Spackman family, who owned it from 1926 to 2008. The park was then sold to Morgan RV LLC, Apex Parks Group, LLC, and now is owned and operated by IB Parks & Entertainment. History Originally named Ideal Beach, the amusement park began as a small lakeside beach with a bath house and refreshment stand opened by Earl W. Spackman. In 1927, the first thrill attraction opened, and from that point, it began to expand. In the 1930s and 1940s, it was popular for the Ideal Beach Ballroom, featuring well-known bands.
