"Holding Out for a Hero" is a song recorded by Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler for the soundtrack to the 1984 film ''Footloose''. It later featured on her sixth studio album, ''Secret Dreams and Forbidden Fire'' (1986). The track was produced by Jim Steinman, who co-wrote the song with Dean Pitchford and was a Top 40 hit in several European countries, as well as Canada and the United States. Its 1985 re-release in the United Kingdom reached number two (remaining there for three weeks) and topped the singles chart in Ireland. Background Paramount Pictures asked Tyler to record a song for the soundtrack to the 1984 film ''Footloose''. Gaynor Sullivan (née Hopkins; born 8 June 1951), known professionally as Bonnie Tyler, is a Welsh singer who is known for her distinctive husky voice. Tyler came to prominence with the release of her 1977 album '' The World Starts Tonight'' and its singles " Lost in France" and " More Than a Lover". Her 1978 single "It's a Heartache" reached number four on the UK Singles Chart, and number three on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100. In the 1980s, Tyler ventured into rock music with songwriter and producer Jim Steinman. ''Bad for Good'' is the only studio album by American songwriter Jim Steinman. Steinman wrote all of the songs and performed on most, although Rory Dodd contributed lead vocals on some tracks. The songs were originally intended to be recorded by Meat Loaf as a follow up to ''Bat Out of Hell'', titled ''Renegade Angel''. However, Meat Loaf suffered vocal problems and was unable to sing. He would record several tracks from ''Bad for Good'' for his later albums. The critical reaction to the album was mixed. Many reviews commented that Steinman's singing voice was inadequate for the songs. Despite this, the album was a major commercial success, breaking the UK Top 10. ''Live in Germany 1993'' is the second live album and DVD by Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler, recorded in Frankfurt in 1993 and released in 2011, with remastered audio. After several postponed release dates, ZYX Music released the album in three formats; a CD, a DVD, and a CD/DVD Deluxe Edition. The concert was originally broadcast on German TV in 1993, entitled ''Live aus der Schlachter - In Concert''. The concert featured a cut version of "Lovers Again" while the credits played, but was too short to be added to the CD, but was added to the DVD. Finally, the concert also featured versions of "God Gave Love to You" and "Bitterblue", which were not added to the DVD or CD. ''Bonnie on Tour'' is a live DVD by Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler. It was released in 2006 by Stick Music. The DVD contains footage of Tyler performing at La Cigale in Paris, France, at the 2005 Sopot International Song Festival in Poland, and at an open-air concert in Zaragosa, Spain as well as various bonus content. The majority of songs featured on the DVD are from Tyler's 2005 album ''Wings'', which had been released during the tour.
