Hold Me In Your Arms (Rick Astley Song)
"Hold Me in Your Arms" is a song written and performed by Rick Astley. Released as a single in 1989, it reached No. 10 in the UK Singles Chart in February 1989. It was the third single from his album of the same name. In 2019, Astley recorded and released a 'Reimagined' version of the song for his album '' The Best of Me'', which features a new piano arrangement. Critical reception In an ironic review of 4 February 1989 the Phil Cheeseman, reviewer of British music newspaper ''Record Mirror'', chided the song for lack of class and recommended the singer take a break. Mick Mercer of ''Melody Maker'' expressed similar opinion on single. Richard Paul Astley (born 6 February 1966) is an English singer, songwriter and radio personality, who has been active in music for several decades. He gained worldwide fame in the 1980s, having multiple hits including his signature song "Never Gonna Give You Up", " Together Forever" and "Whenever You Need Somebody", and returned to music full-time in the 2000s after a 6-year hiatus. Outside his music career, Astley has occasionally worked as a radio DJ and a podcaster. Born and raised in Lancashire, Astley became a musician after leaving school, as the drummer for the soul band FBI. Three years later, he rose to fame through his association with the production trio Stock Aitken Waterman; releasing the 1987 album ''Whenever You Need Somebody'', which sold 15.2 million copies worldwide. The ARIA Charts are the main Australian music sales charts, issued weekly by the Australian Recording Industry Association. The Official Charts (legal name: The Official UK Charts Company Limited) is a British inter-professional organization that compiles various "official" record charts in the United Kingdom, Ireland and France. In the United Kingdom, its charts include ones for singles, albums and films, with the data compiled from a mixture of downloads, purchases (of physical media) and streaming. The Dutch Single Top 100 or Single Top 100 is a Dutch chart, based on official physical single sales, legal downloads and since July 2013 streaming and composed by Dutch Charts. It is one of the three official charts, the other two being the Dutch Top 40 and the Mega Top 30. The difference is that these charts also include airplay data. The list is especially intended for the music industry and those who take an interest in charts. Irish Singles Chart
The Irish Singles Chart is the Republic of Ireland's music industry standard singles popularity chart issued weekly by the Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA) and compiled on their behalf by the Official Charts Company. Chart rankings are based on sales, which are compiled through over-the-counter retail data captured electronically each day from retailers' EPOS systems. All major record shops, digital retailers and streaming services contribute to the chart, accounting for over 95% of the market. A new chart is compiled and officially released to the public by the Irish Recorded Music Association on Friday at noon.
