Abtwil, Aargau
Abtwil is a municipality in the district of Muri in the canton of Aargau in Switzerland. It lies next to the border with the canton of Lucerne. History Roman and Alamanni archeological finds as well as two Alamanni cemeteries in Altchile indicate that the Abtwil area was occupied before the village of Abtwil is first mentioned in 1256 as ''Apwiler''. During the Middle Ages the sovereign rights to the village were held by the Knights Hospitaller of Hohenrain. In 1256 Count Gottfried von Habsburg-Laufenburg unsuccessfully contested Knights' rights. The four farm houses remained in the possession of the Knights until 1805. Abtwil was, until 1798, part of the High Court of Meienberg. Auw, Switzerland
Auw is a municipality in the district of Muri in the canton of Aargau in Switzerland. History The first evidence of a human settlement near Auw are some Roman era cremation urn burials. The modern municipality of Auw is first mentioned in 924 as ''Houva''. In 1306 it was mentioned as ''Owe''. The major landholders in Auw were Muri and Engelberg Abbeys as well as the knightly family of Rüssegg. The rights to low justice was held by the Habsburgs and the Knight of Rüssegg, the high court right was held until 1415 by the Habsburgs. Between 1415-25 the high court right belonged to Lucerne. Then the court rights moved to district of Meienberg. In 1715 a major fire destroyed 43 buildings. The first schoolhouse was built in 1809 and replaced with a new building in 1954. Beinwil (Freiamt) is a municipality in the district of Muri in the canton of Aargau in Switzerland. History The earliest evidence of human settlement are scattered Roman era items. The modern municipality of Beinwil is first mentioned in 1153 as ''Beinwilare''. Until 1950 it was known as ''Beinwil bei Muri''. Originally, much of the property in the village was owned by Muri Abbey. In 1239 Hartmann Visilere granted all his possessions and rights in Beinwil to the Cistercian Kappel Abbey in Kappel am Albis. This property went to the city of Zurich in 1415. In 1527, Zurich also acquired the rights to the low courts in the municipality. In 1586 these rights went to the family of Holder Meyer in Lucerne, who sold them in 1614 to Muri Abbey. The Seetal is a valley in the cantons of Lucerne and Aargau in Switzerland.
