Kate Hoey
Catharine Letitia Hoey, Baroness Hoey (born 21 June 1946), better known as Kate Hoey, is a Northern Irish politician and life peer who served as Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Home Affairs from 1998 to 1999 and Minister for Sport from 1999 to 2001. A former member of the Labour Party, she was Member of Parliament (MP) for Vauxhall from 1989 to 2019. Margaret Elizabeth "Bess" Hoey ( Gardner; January 21, 1875 – February 13, 1942) was an American civic leader and political hostess who served as the First Lady of North Carolina from 1937 to 1941. She was part of the "Shelby Dynasty" and is the only North Carolinian first lady to be the wife of one governor, Clyde R. Hoey, and the sister of another governor, Oliver Max Gardner. Gary Hoey (born August 23, 1960) is an American hard rock and latterly blues rock guitarist, singer and songwriter. He has recorded over 20 albums and had five Top 20 ''Billboard'' hits. Early life and early career Hoey was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, United States. At fourteen, Hoey often lingered outside Boston's renowned Berklee College of Music, making friends and offering to pay for lessons. Fred James Hoey (May 12, 1884 – November 17, 1949) was an American radio sports announcer of Major League Baseball. Hoey called games for the Boston Braves during 1925–1938 and Boston Red Sox during 1927–1938. Biography Hoey was born in Boston and raised in Saxonville, Massachusetts. At the age of 12, Hoey saw his first baseball game during the 1897 Temple Cup. Hoey would later play semi-professional baseball and work as an usher at the Huntington Avenue Grounds. Evelyn Hoey (December 15, 1910 – September 11, 1935) was a Broadway theatre torch singer and actress. Frances Cashel Hoey (née Frances Sarah Johnston; 14 February 1830 – 8 July 1908), pseudonym Cashel Hoey, was an Irish novelist, journalist and translator. Life Frances Sarah Johnston was born in Bushy Park, Dublin on 14 February 1830. She was one of eight children. Her parents were Charlotte Jane Shaw and Charles Bolton Johnston. Aoife Hoey (born 6 September 1983) is an Irish bobsledder who has competed since 2004. She finished 22nd out of 23 in the two-woman event at the 2005 FIBT World Championships in Calgary. Fred Hoey (baseball Manager)
Frederick Chamberlain Hoey (January 21, 1865 – December 7, 1933) was an American manager in professional baseball in the late 19th century. Hoey's first involvement with baseball was as the business manager for New York Giants owner Andrew Freedman in 1898. In July 1899, Hoey was named manager of the Giants, succeeding John B. Day, under whom the team had gone 29–35. Managing the 1899 Giants through the end of the season, Hoey compiled a record of 31 wins and 55 losses in 87 games (one contest ended in a tie). It was his only stint as a major league manager.
