Hodkovice Nad Mohelkou
Hodkovice nad Mohelkou (until 1949 Hodkovice; german: Liebenau) is a town in Liberec District in the Liberec Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 2,900 inhabitants. The historic town centre is well preserved and is protected by law as an urban monument zone. Administrative parts Villages of Jílové, Radoňovice, Záskalí and Žďárek are administrative parts of Hodkovice nad Mohelkou. Geography Hodkovice nad Mohelkou is located about south of Liberec. The southern part of the municipal territory with the built-up area lies in the Jičín Uplands. The northern part lies in the Ještěd–Kozákov Ridge and includes the highest peak of Hodkovice nad Mohelkou, Javorník at above sea level. History The first settlement in the area of today's town was probably founded in the 11th century. The first written mention of Hodkovice is from 1352. Jičín Uplands
Jičín (; german: Jitschin or ''Gitschin'') is a town in the Hradec Králové Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 16,000 inhabitants. The historic town centre is well preserved and is protected by law as an urban monument reservation. The town's history is connected with Albrecht von Wallenstein who had rebuilt the town, and many sights bear his name. A sister city or a twin town relationship is a form of legal or social agreement between two geographically and politically distinct localities for the purpose of promoting cultural and commercial ties. Saint Procopius of Sázava ( la, Procopius Sazavensis, cs, Prokop Sázavský; died 25 March 1053) was a Czech canon and hermit, canonized as a saint of the Catholic church in 1204. Life Little about his life is known with certainty. According to hagiographical tradition, he was born in 970, in a Central Bohemian village of Chotouň near Kouřim. He studied in Prague and was ordained there. He was married and had a son, called Jimram (Emmeram), but later entered the Benedictine order, presumably at Břevnov Monastery, and eventually retired to the wilderness as a hermit, living in a cave on the banks of Sázava River, where over time he attracted a group of fellow hermits. The Ještěd–Kozákov Ridge (; cs, Ještědsko-kozákovský hřbet) is a ridge and geomorphological mesoregion of the Czech Republic. It is part of the Western Sudetes. Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk (7 March 185014 September 1937) was a Czechoslovak politician, statesman, sociologist, and philosopher. Until 1914, he advocated restructuring the Austro-Hungarian Empire into a federal state. With the help of the Allied Powers, Masaryk gained independence for a Czechoslovak Republic as World War I ended in 1918. He co-founded Czechoslovakia together with Milan Rastislav Štefánik and Edvard Beneš and served as its first president.
