Paul Hockings
Paul Hockings (born February 23, 1935) is an anthropologist whose prime areas of focus are the Dravidian languages, social, visual and medical anthropology. He studied archaeology and anthropology at the University of Sydney, the University of California, Berkeley, and at the universities in Chicago, Stanford and Toronto. He taught anthropology at the University of California, Los Angeles and the University of Illinois at Chicago, and he has been the dean of United International College's Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. He is the current editor-in-chief of ''Visual Anthropology''. Early life and family Hockings was born on February 23, 1935 at Hertford and was raised in Hampshire, England. At the age of ten years, he developed interest in prehistory and museums. His father Arthur Hockings, a Londoner, was a cricketer and an engineer, who worked as a personal assistant for Henry Royce. Albert John Hockings
Albert John Hockings (21 February 1826 – 11 November 1890) was a politician in Queensland, Australia. He was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly and an alderman and mayor of the Brisbane Town Council. Personal life Albert John Hockings was the son of Thomas Hockings (a carpenter) and Jane Thorton. He was baptised at St Martin-in-the-Fields, London, England on 16 April 1826. In 1841 his parents Thomas and Jane Hockings immigrated to Australia on ''William Jardine'' accompanied by their sons Albert and Henry. Albert John Hockings married Elizabeth Bailey (daughter of Samuel William Bailey and Elizabeth Scott) in Brisbane on 17 August 1851. Lucy Hockings is a New Zealand news presenter for the BBC, moderator, events host and media trainer. Her roles include anchoring ''Live with Lucy Hockings'' on BBC World News. Early life, education and early career Hockings was born on 7 April 1975 in Taranaki on New Zealand's North Island. She has a degree in journalism from the University of Auckland. Prior to joining the BBC, Hockings worked as a reporter for TVNZ. BBC First months Hockings joined the BBC as a producer in 1999, before being promoted to senior producer in 2000.
