Hockey Humanitarian Award
The Hockey Humanitarian Award is an award that is given annually, since 1996, to a List of NCAA ice hockey programs, college ice hockey playermale or femalewho has given back to their communities in the true humanitarian spirit. Selection process Every year, the foundation board solicits nominations from every NCAA varsity hockey program in the country, male and female, in Divisions I to III. Leadership The founding directors of the award are John R. Greenhalgh and Jeffrey Millman, after observing injured Division I player (and their choice as first recipient), J. P. McKersie, coaching their son's minor hockey team. Sponsors of the award include Ulmer & Berne, LLP, the Joyce M. And Herbert W. Aleca Hughes
Aleca Hughes (born April 5, 1990) was the captain of the Yale Bulldogs during the 2011–12 Yale Bulldogs women's ice hockey season. For her work in trying to help find a donor for Mandi Schwartz, she was a finalist for the 2011 Hockey Humanitarian Award. In 2012, she would win the Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup, Hockey Humanitarian Award, and the Sarah Devens Award. She would be the first member of the Ivy League to win the Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup. Playing career Yale Her freshman season with the Yale Bulldogs was in 2008-09 and she was recognized as a member of the ECAC All-Academic team. She skated on the same line with Mandi Schwartz to begin her freshman season. Her seven goals ranked third on the team, while her sixteen points ranked fourth. Yale Bulldogs Women's Ice Hockey
Yale University women's ice hockey (YWIH) is an NCAA Division I varsity ice hockey program at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. One of the oldest varsity women's ice hockey programs in the country, Yale women's ice hockey dates back to 1975. Beginning as a club sport, the program gained varsity team status in 1977–78. Yale competes in the ECAC Hockey League (ECACHL), along with Ivy League foes Harvard, Princeton, Cornell, Dartmouth and Brown. Both the Yale men's and women's ice-hockey teams play at Ingalls Rink, also known as "The Whale". Coaches The current head coach is Mark Bolding, who took over the helm in April 2019. Saint Anselm Hawks
The Saint Anselm Hawks are the intercollegiate athletic teams that represent Saint Anselm College, located in Goffstown, New Hampshire, in NCAA Division II sporting competitions. The Hawks are primarily members of the Northeast-10 Conference, where 21 of their 23 sports compete. Minnesota Golden Gophers Women's Ice Hockey
The Minnesota Golden Gophers women's ice hockey team plays for the University of Minnesota at the Twin Cities campus in Minneapolis. The team is one of the members of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) and competes in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in Division I. The Golden Gophers have won six NCAA Championships as well as the final American Women's College Hockey Alliance Championship. Saint Michael's College
Saint Michael's College (St. Mikes or Saint Michael's) is a private Roman Catholic college in Colchester, Vermont. Saint Michael's was founded in 1904 by the Society of Saint Edmund. It grants Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in over 30 majors to over 1,600 undergraduate students. The Air Force Falcons men's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents the United States Air Force Academy. Wisconsin Badgers Women's Ice Hockey
The Wisconsin Badgers women's ice hockey team is the hockey team that represents the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin. History On October 8, 1999, the Bulldogs played the Wisconsin Badgers in the first ever Women's WCHA conference game at the Kohl Center in Madison, WI. It was the highest attended game of the season (3,892) and resulted in an 8–1 defeat of the Badgers. In 2006, the Wisconsin Badgers became the first team outside the state of Minnesota to win the Women's Frozen Four championship. The Badgers defeated the defending champions, the Minnesota Golden Gophers, by a score of 3–0 at Mariucci Arena in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Holy Cross Crusaders Men's Ice Hockey
The Holy Cross Crusaders men's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents the College of the Holy Cross. The Crusaders are a member of the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA). They play at the Hart Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. History Holy Cross men's ice hockey began in 1966 and a year later it joined ECAC 2. The Crusaders played in the second tier of college ice hockey for ten years before they played their first playoff game, but once they made it they didn't go very far. Saint Anselm College
Saint Anselm College is a private Benedictine liberal arts college in Goffstown, New Hampshire. Founded in 1889, it is the third-oldest Catholic college in New England. Named for Saint Anselm of Canterbury (Archbishop of Canterbury from 1093 to 1109), the college continues to have a fully functioning and independent Benedictine abbey attached to it, Saint Anselm Abbey. The Boston College Eagles are a Division I college hockey program that represent Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.
