Hockey East Scoring Champion
The Hockey East Scoring Champion is an annual award given out at the conclusion of the Hockey East regular season to the skater who scored the most points in conference games during the regular season. The Scoring Champion was first awarded in 1985 and every year thereafter. It was shared four times, between Tom Nolan and Marty Reasoner in 1998, Ryan Shannon and Tony Voce in 2004, James Marcou and Colin Wilson in 2009, and Bobby Butler and Gustav Nyquist in 2010. In 2022–23, Lane Huston became the first Defenceman to win the award in league history. The current record for most points scored in conference play during a season is 74 points, held by Craig Janney of Boston College, set in 1987. Hockey East
The Hockey East Association, also known as Hockey East, is a college ice hockey conference which operates entirely in New England. It participates in the NCAA's Division I as a hockey-only conference. Hockey East came into existence in 1984 for men's hockey when most of its current members split from what is today known as ECAC Hockey, after disagreements with the Ivy League members. The women's league, the WHEA, began play in 2002. On October 5, 2011, the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish (an ACC member outside football) announced they would be joining Hockey East as the conference's first non-New England school in 2013 after the CCHA folded. On March 22, 2016, Notre Dame subsequently announced their men's hockey team would leave Hockey East for the Big Ten Conference at the start of the 2017-2018 season. Johnny Gaudreau
John Michael Gaudreau (born August 13, 1993) is an American professional ice hockey winger who currently plays for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League (NHL). He played for the NCAA Division I's Boston College Eagles from 2011 to 2014. Gaudreau was selected by the Calgary Flames in the fourth round, 104th overall, of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Nicknamed "Johnny Hockey," he was the 2014 winner of the Hobey Baker Award as the best player in the NCAA, and, during his first full NHL season in 2014–15, he was selected to play in the 2015 NHL All-Star Game and was a Calder Memorial Trophy finalist for the NHL's best rookie. Maine Black Bears Men's Ice Hockey
The Maine Black Bears men's ice hockey is a (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents the University of Maine. The Black Bears are a member of Hockey East. They play at the Harold Alfond Sports Arena commonly known as Alfond Arena in Orono, Maine. The Black Bears have appeared in 11 Frozen Fours, have a 28–18 record in NCAA Tournament games, and have won two national championships—in 1993 and 1999. Dave Capuano
Dave Alan Capuano (born July 27, 1968) is a retired American professional ice hockey left winger. Capuano was born in Warwick, Rhode Island, but grew up in Cranston, Rhode Island. Now he lives with his Wife Lori, and his 2 kids Jaclyn and Max. Playing career Capuano played for the University of Maine for three seasons from 1986–1989. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second round of the 1986 NHL Entry Draft, 25th overall. His first NHL game was during the 1989–90 season, when he played 6 games for the Penguins. Winger (ice Hockey)
Winger, in the game of ice hockey, is a forward position of a player whose primary zone of play is along the outer playing areas. They typically flank the centre forward. Originally the name was given to forward players who went up and down the sides of the rink. Wingers generally have the least defensive responsibilities out of any position on the ice, however they are still tasked with defensive duties such as forechecking duties or covering the point in the defensive zone. Nowadays, there are different types of wingers in the game — out-and-out goal scorers, checkers who disrupt the opponents, and forwards who work along the boards and in the corners. Providence Friars Men's Ice Hockey
The Providence Friars men's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents Providence College. The Friars are a member of Hockey East. The skating Friars are currently coached by Nate Leaman has been the head coach of the skating Friars since 2011, leading them to a national championship in 2015. They play at the 3,030-seat Schneider Arena in Providence, Rhode Island.
