Greg Hoard is a former newspaper journalist and television sports broadcaster and the author of the Joe Nuxhall biography, ''JOE: Rounding Third And Heading For Home'' (). He joined the sports department at ''The Cincinnati Post'' in 1979 as a feature reporter and columnist, and ''The Cincinnati Enquirer'' in 1984 as the Reds beat writer. Hoard moved into television and worked for WLWT-TV in Cincinnati, Ohio, from 1990–1993, before joining WXIX-TV as sports director until 2005. Leroy J. Hoard (born May 15, 1968) is a former American football player. Hoard played professional football as a running back in the National Football League (NFL) for 10 seasons for the Cleveland Browns from 1990 to 1995 and the Minnesota Vikings from 1996 to 1999. He also played briefly for the Carolina Panthers (three games) and Baltimore Ravens (two games) during the 1996 NFL season. In a 10-year NFL career, Hoard appeared in 144 games, totaled 3,964 rushing yards and 2,430 receiving yards and scored 51 touchdowns. Hoard also played college football as a fullback and tailback for the University of Michigan from 1987 to 1989. After rushing for 146 yards and two touchdowns against USC, he was selected as the most valuable player in the 1989 Rose Bowl. Samuel Hoard (1599–1658) was an English clergyman and controversialist in the Arminian interest. He is credited with the first worked-out attack on Calvinistic doctrine by an English churchman. Life He was born in London in 1599, and became either a clerk or a chorister of All Souls' College, Oxford, in 1614. He matriculated on 10 October 1617, and migrated to St Mary Hall, where he graduated B.A. 20 April 1618, and commenced M.A. in 1621. He became chaplain to Robert Rich, 2nd Earl of Warwick, who presented him in 1626 to the rectory of Moreton, near Ongar, Essex. On 15 June 1630 he was admitted B.D. at Oxford. In 1637 he was collated to the prebend of Willesden in the church of St Paul. He died on 15 February 1657 O.S., and was buried in the chancel of Moreton Church. Samuel Hoard (politician)
Samuel H. Hoard (May 20, 1800 – November 25, 1881) was an American publisher, merchant, judge and politician from Massachusetts. Originally a student of law, Hoard became partner at a mercantile firm until his election as a magistrate in New York. In 1828, he began to focus on publishing, managing two New York papers. Hoard moved to Illinois to manage a farm and quickly became an important local political figure. He served a term in the Illinois Senate and was later appointed postmaster of Chicago. Hoard co-founded the original University of Chicago and served on its board of trustees. Biography Samuel Hoard was born in Westminster, Massachusetts on May 20, 1800.
