Arthur Hoag
Arthur Allen Hoag (January 28, 1921 - July 17, 1999) was an American astronomer most famous for his discovery of Hoag's Object, a type of ring galaxy, in 1950. Biography Hoag was born January 28, 1921, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The son of Lynne Arthur Hoag (Harvard Medical School, Cornell, and University of Michigan faculty member) and wife Wylma Wood Hoag. He had two sisters, Mary Alice (born 1922) and Elizabeth Ruth (born 1919), a son named Tom, and a daughter named Stefanie. His mother and sister Mary (aged 3) died on June 1, 1926, when the ''Washington Irving'' was rammed by an oil barge and sunk on the North River. His interest in astronomy started early on. In 1942, he graduated with a degree in physics from Brown University. Upon graduation, he went to work at the Naval Ordnance Laboratory. Bob Hoag
Bob Hoag is an American record producer, songwriter and musician based in Mesa, Arizona. In 2005, he was recruited to be the pianist and keyboardist for American rock band The Ataris. Career Hoag wrote songs for his group, The Go Reflex, as well as his previous group, Pollen. His main band, The Go Reflex, includes Kevin Scanlon from the now defunct band, Pollen (Hoag played the drums and wrote the songs). In The Go Reflex, Hoag once again writes the songs but also sings and plays piano as well as drums. He also played drums and recorded records for the power-pop/garage group The Breakup Society, as well as The Love Me Nots. Charles Hoag
Charles Hoag (June 29, 1808 – 1888) was a New England classical scholar, the first schoolmaster of the city of Minneapolis, and second Treasurer of Hennepin County. He is also known to have played a part in the naming of Minneapolis. After starting farming, he served as President of the Agricultural and Horticultural Societies of Minnesota. Early life, education and career Hoag was born in Sandwich, New Hampshire, and was educated in the public schools of the time. He also attended Wolfboro Academy and Moses Brown School at Providence, Rhode Island. By the time he was 16, Hoag had started work as a teacher, which he would continue to practice for the next 27 years. He also served as the principal of a Philadelphia Grammar School for 13 years. Charles Monroe Hoag (July 19, 1931 – March 8, 2012) was an American basketball player who competed in the 1952 Summer Olympics. Hoag was also an important player on the University of Kansas 1952 National Championship basketball team. He starred on the KU football team and baseball team while at KU as well. He was drafted in the 1953 NFL Draft in the 26th round by the Cleveland Browns as the 311th overall pick, but he did not play professional sports because of a career ending serious knee injury he suffered in the 1953 KU versus KSU football game. Sigma Kappa (, also known as SK or Sig Kap) is a sorority founded on November 9, 1874 at Colby College in Waterville, Maine. In 1874, Sigma Kappa was founded by five women: Mary Caffrey Low Carver, Elizabeth Gorham Hoag, Ida Mabel Fuller Pierce, Frances Elliott Mann Hall and Louise Helen Coburn. The sorority has initiated 172,000 members, has 122 collegiate chapters, and has over 110 alumnae chapters. It is officially partnered with the Maine Sea Coast Mission to raise money for the Mission's programs, and it also includes gerontology with an emphasis on Alzheimer's disease and research its other initiatives. Myril Oliver Hoag (March 9, 1908 – July 28, 1971) was an American professional baseball player. An outfielder, Hoag played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the New York Yankees, St. Louis Browns, Chicago White Sox, and Cleveland Indians between 1931 and 1945 and was on the winning team in three World Series. He appeared in the 1939 MLB All-Star Game. Career Hoag was born in Davis, California. He played in the major leagues from April 15, 1931, until September 16, 1945. Hoag batted and threw right-handed. Ryan Scott Hoag (born November 23, 1979) is an American former football wide receiver. He was drafted by the Oakland Raiders with the final pick in the 2003 NFL Draft, earning him the title of Mr. Irrelevant. He never played in a regular season game. He played college football at Gustavus Adolphus.
