Jon Hoadley
Jon Hoadley (born August 14, 1983) is an American politician from Michigan. A member of the Democratic Party, Hoadley has represented the 60th district—which includes the entire City of Kalamazoo and the majority of Kalamazoo Township—in the Michigan House of Representatives since first winning election in November 2014. In April 2019, Hoadley announced that he would run in the 2020 Democratic primary election in Michigan's 6th congressional district. He won the Democratic primary but lost to incumbent Republican Fred Upton in the November 2020 general election. Abel Hoadley
Abel Hoadley (10 September 1844 – 12 May 1918) was a manufacturer of jams and sauces, remembered today as the inventor of the popular Australian confectionery bar the Violet Crumble. History Hoadley was born in Willingdon, East Sussex, England, the son of Peter Hoadley, blacksmith, and Elizabeth Ann Hoadley, née Wheeler. Hoadley arrived in Australia in 1865. His first business was manufacturing and selling jams and pickles, with produce fresh from his own orchard in Burwood East. In 1889, Hoadley opened a jam factory in South Melbourne, Victoria, trading as A. Hoadley & Company. In 1892 he made a trial shipment of preserved fruit to England, with encouraging results. By 1894 he was selling "Rising Sun" brand jams in tins; in 1895 the "Rising Sun" brand was applied to a range of jams, sauces and confectionery. Charles Archibald Brookes Hoadley CBE ( Burwood, 1 March 1887 – Footscray, 27 February 1947) was an Australian geologist. Early life and education The son of Abel Hoadley and his wife Susannah Ann née Barrett (he was the tenth of their fourteen children).He attended Toorak Grammar School, and from 1900, Wesley College. He graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1911 with a degree in mining engineering. Australasian Antarctic Expedition Hoadley was a member of the Australasian Antarctic Expedition led by Sir Douglas Mawson from 1911 to 1914. Hoadley was a member of the Western Base Party. Silas Hoadley
Silas Hoadley (1786 – December 28, 1870) was an American clockmaker. Biography Hoadley was born in Bethany, Connecticut on January 31, 1786. He was a cousin of the architect and builder David Hoadley. He received little formal education before becoming apprentice carpenter to his uncle Calvin Hoadley. In 1809 his apprenticeship ended, and he formed a clock-making partnership in Plymouth, Connecticut with Eli Terry and Seth Thomas as Terry, Thomas & Hoadley. The partners gradually withdrew to create their own firms – Terry in 1810, Thomas in 1814 – leaving Silas Hoadley as sole owner. He continued to make mantel and tall clocks until 1849. Simon Peter Hoadley (born 16 August 1956) is a former English cricketer. Hoadley was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm off break. He was born at Eridge, Sussex. Hoadley made his first-class debut for Sussex against the touring New Zealanders in 1978. He made eleven further first-class appearances for the county, the last of which came against Somerset in the 1979 County Championship. In his twelve first-class matches, he scored a total of 329 runs at an average of 17.31, with a high score of 112. This score was his only first-class century and came against Glamorgan in 1978. Philip Damien Hoadley (6 January 1952 – 5 May 2024) was an English footballer who made more than 400 appearances in the Football League playing as a central defender for Crystal Palace, Orient and Norwich City. Career Hoadley was born in Battersea, London. He began his career as an apprentice with Crystal Palace. Rob Hoadley (born 28 March 1980) is an English rugby union former player and current coach. He is the former head coach of the San Diego Legion of Major League Rugby (MLR). Professional career Hoadley was born in Hammersmith, London, England. He joined London Irish in 1999, spending five seasons with the club and winning the Powergen Cup in 2002. In 2004, Hoadley moved away from London Irish to join rivals London Wasps. During his time at London Wasps the club won the 2004-05 English Premiership (he scored a try in the final as a replacement fullback), 2005–06 Anglo-Welsh Cup, 2006-07 Heineken Cup (he did not play in the final), and 2007–08 English Premiership (he did not play in the final).
