Ho West District
Ho West District is one of the eighteen districts in Volta Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Ho District on 10 March 1989, until the western part was split off to create Ho West District on 28 June 2012; thus the remaining part was elevated to municipal district assembly status on that same year to become Ho Municipal District. The district assembly is located in the central part of Volta Region and has Dzolokpuita as its capital town. Plans are already underway to split the Ho West District, due to slow development, large size and extreme length, stretching several kilometers from the north of the North Tongu District to the northern part of the Afadzato South District Administration Ho West District covers the same area as the Ho West Constituency. Districts Of Ghana
The Districts of Ghana are second-level administrative subdivisions of Ghana, below the level of region. There are 261 local metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies (or MMDA's). History The districts of Ghana were re-organized in 1988/1989 in an attempt to decentralize the government and to assist in development. The reform of the late 1980s subdivided the regions of Ghana into 110 districts, where local district assemblies should deal with the local administration. By 2006, an additional 28 districts were created by splitting some of the original 110, bringing their number up to 138. In February 2008, there were more districts created and some were upgraded to municipal status. This brought the final number to 170 districts in Ghana. Since then, a further 46 districts have been added since 28 June 2012 bringing the total to 216 districts. Amedzofe, Ghana
Amedzofe is a settlement north of Ho in the mountainous region of the Ho Municipal District of the Volta Region of Ghana. It is presently located in the newly created Ho-West District Assembly. Amedzofe is a settlement in the mountains, and can boast of four natural gifts: the Ote tayFalls, Mount Gemi, the weather and the landscape. It has played a role in the 19th-century Anglo-Ashanti Wars. The Amedzofe Training School was built in 1880 by German missionaries. It is at an altitude of above sea level. Abutia-Kpota is a farming community located at South-Western part of Ho, the capital town of Volta Region, Ghana. Abutia Kpota is one of the towns within the Ho West Parliamentary Constituency. The town is near the Kalapa Re-source Reserve. History People Abutia Kpota is one of the numerous settler towns in the Abutia Traditional Area. The people of Abutia belong to the Eʋedome group of the Eʋes. Abutia has 3 ain traditional towns which are Abutia Kloe, Abutia Agove and Abutia Teti. The Paramount Chief of Abutia is from Abutia Teti with divisional Chiefs from Abutia Kloe and Abutia Agove. Abutia Kloe
Abutia, also: ''Abutia Area'', is a Kingdom in West Africa, in the East of the Republic of Ghana, Volta Region. History Abutia is a traditional area in Ghana with Teti, Agorve and Kloe as its three (3) main towns. In colonial time Abutia was part of Togoland as German Colony from 1884 to 1916 and British Colony from 1916 to 1945. When Ghana gained independence on 6 March 1957, Abutia became part of the Republic of Ghana. In 1992 the parliament enacted the new constitution of the Republic of Ghana, in which the traditional areas got cultural sovereignty (''subnational monarchy'').
