Hlohovec District
Hlohovec District (''okres Hlohovec'') is a district in the Trnava Region of western Slovakia. District is located on a valley lowlands of Váh river. In its current borders had been established in 1996. Most important economy branches are production of metallurgy products and the pharmaceutical industry. Its administrative seat is town Hlohovec. District is important for its transport location, Leopoldov is a railway hub A transport hub is a place where passengers and cargo are exchanged between vehicles and/or between transport modes. Public transport hubs include railway stations, rapid transit stations, bus stops, tram stops, airports and ferry slips. Districts Of Slovakia
An okres (in English district) is an administrative unit in Slovakia. It is a second-tier territorial administrative unit, below a Regions of Slovakia, Region in standing, and superior to a municipality. Each district contains at least several municipalities. The cities of Bratislava and Košice are the only cities in Slovakia divided into internal urban districts, with five in Bratislava, and four in Košice. These urban districts are then further divided into smaller boroughs (which serve a function analogous to municipalities in typical districts). All other districts are larger in size and also include rural areas, and rural as well as urban municipalities. Each of these more typical districts has an urban centre serving as the seat of the district, usually the largest town (or the only town) of a given district. Madunice
Madunice (; hu, Vágmedence) is a large village and municipality in Slovakia in Trnava region in Hlohovec District. Etymology The name comes from the Slovak word ''medunica'': a honey plant, in Western Slovak dialects ''madunica''. Situation Madunice is situated on the right bank of river Váh, approximately one kilometer away from the river. North of Madunice are Drahovce, on east Koplotovce, on south Červeník and Leopoldov and on west Pečeňady. Transportation Road no. 61 leads through Madunice. It is also accessible from highway D1, exit 72 – Červeník. Madunice lie on the 106.6th kilometer of Váh fairway. In the town, there are four bus stops. Leopoldov
Leopoldov (before 1948 ''Mestečko''; german: Leopold-Neustadtl; hu, Lipótvár) is a town in the Trnava Region of Slovakia, near the Váh river. It has a population of around 4,000 inhabitants. The city is the location of Leopoldov Prison, a high-security correctional institution. History The town was founded in 1664-1669 as a fortress against the Ottoman Turks on the initiative of Emperor Leopold I (hence the name). It was granted town status in 1669. The fortress has served as a state prison since 1855. A village called "Leopold" (German also: ''Leopoldstadt'', Hungarian since 1873: ''Lipótvár'') was made part of Leopoldov in 1882.
