Allie Hixson
Allie Corbin Hixson (May 28, 1924 – October 30, 2007) was a feminist advocate working for women's rights and the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment to the United States Constitution. Hixson is credited with being the first woman to earn a PhD in English from the University of Louisville in 1961. Her portrait was hung in the Kentucky State Capitol Rotunda as part of the Kentucky Women Remembered exhibit. Early life and education Allie Corbin was born in southern Kentucky on May 28, 1924. She relocated to Louisville, Kentucky where she married William Forrest Hixson, and they had three children together. She is credited with being the first woman to earn a PhD in English from the University of Louisville. Chris Hixson (born December 4, 1974) is a former American football quarterback who played three seasons in the Arena Football League (AFL) with the Arizona Rattlers and Georgia Force. Charles Oliver Hixson, Jr. (born 1947) is a former American football quarterback who played at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. After leading the nation in passing as a sophomore, he was awarded the Sammy Baugh Trophy in 1968. The quarterback had 265 completions in 468 attempts for 3,103 yards, 23 interceptions, 21 touchdowns, and 2,995 yards of total offense that year. Francis Hixson
Francis Hixson (8 January 1833 – 2 March 1909) worked as a Royal Navy officer in colonial New South Wales and the Pacific. He was also superintendent of pilots, lighthouses, and harbours in New South Wales. Hixson was a native of Dorsetshire, England, and, entering the Royal Navy, arrived at Sydney in H.M.S. ''Havannah'' in 1848. When the ''Havannah'' was paid off, in 1852, he was appointed to the ''Herald'', and when that vessel left Australian waters, in 1861, he was employed as chief assistant, to Commander Sidney in the survey of the coasts of New South Wales. In January 1863 he left the navy, having reached the rank of "master," and was appointed superintendent of pilots, lighthouses, and harbours in New South Wales. In the same year he organised the New South Wales Naval Brigade, which he commanded for many years. Thomas Kim Hixson (born July 26, 1957) is an American educator and former politician. He is the former dean of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences at Frostburg State University. He previously served four years as a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing Whitewater and Rock County as a Democrat (2007–2011). Peter Hixson (born October 31, 1966) is an American animation artist living in Los Angeles. He has worked in television animation for the past 15 years and presently supervises animation for Dreamworks Television's '' All Hail King Julien''. She began her career in the mid-1970s as a percussionist and singer for The George Duke Band.
