''Hiwaga sa Balete Drive'' (literally "Mystery on Balete Drive") is a 1988 Filipino anthology horror film directed by Peque Gallaga and Lorenzo A. Reyes. The film is based on the haunting legends on Balete Drive. Plot The film is divided into two stories: ''Ang Babae sa Balete Drive'' and ''Ikatlong Mata''. ;Ang Babae sa Balete Drive The couple Dennis (Jestoni Alarcon) and Sandy (Rita Avila) meet Margarita, who haunts a house along Balete Drive. Margarita plans to steal Dennis for her to continue her marriage to her late husband. ;Ikatlong Mata Jonathan (Ian Veneracion) meets an accident, resulting to have his third eye opened. Maurice Ruiz de Luzuriaga Gallaga (August 25, 1943 – May 7, 2020), better known as Peque Gallaga, was a multi-awarded Filipino people, Filipino film-maker. His most significant achievement in film was ''Oro, Plata, Mata'', which he directed after winning a scriptwriting contest sponsored by the Experimental Cinema of the Philippines. He has received an award from the International Film Festival of Flanders-Ghent, Belgium in 1983; a Special Jury Award from the Manila International Film Festival; and the 2004 Gawad CCP Para sa Sining. Rosario Violeta Solís Hernández, better known as Charito Solís (October 6, 1935 – January 9, 1998), was a FAMAS and Gawad Urian Award-winning Filipina film actress, in addition to being the first Philippine woman who have bared her chest in recorded film. Profile Rosario Violeta Solís Hernández was born in Manila. At age 19, she was introduced by her uncle, the film director F. H. Constantino to Doña Narcisa de León, the head of LVN Pictures, who cast her to star in her initial movie ''Niña Bonita'', an adaptation of Frank Capra's ''It Happened One Night''.
