Hits (compilation Series)
''Hits'' - also commonly known as ''The Hits Album'' - is a long-running compilation album series containing contemporary chart music. It originally ran in the United Kingdom and parts of Europe for over twenty years from 1984 until 2006. It was compiled as a joint venture, variously between the compilation arms of the Sony Music, RCA/Bertelsmann Music Group, BMG, and Warner Music groups to rival the ''Now That's What I Call Music'' series that had launched a year earlier in 1983, compiled by rival companies EMI and Virgin Records, Virgin. Initially, the ''Hits'' brand was arguably as popular as its main rival and all of the first eight volumes achieved at least a platinum BPI award, with several of the very early albums going multi-platinum. During 1989, five years into the ''Hits'' series' run, a drop in sales resulted in several re-brands meaning that for a period of time, the series lost momentum with the release pattern and the numbering of each volume. The series was bri ...

Hits (Phil Collins Album)
''Hits'' (stylised as ''...Hits''), released in 1998 and again in 2008, following the success of "In the Air Tonight" on the Cadbury advertisement campaign, is the first greatest hits album by English drummer and singer-songwriter Phil Collins. The collection included fourteen top 40 hits, including seven American number one songs, spanning from the albums '' Face Value'' (1981) through ''Dance into the Light'' (1996). One new Collins recording, a cover of Cyndi Lauper's " True Colors", also appeared on the collection and was a popular song on adult contemporary stations. ''Hits'' was also the first Phil Collins album to include four songs originally recorded for motion pictures (all of them US number-one hits) as well as his popular duet with Philip Bailey, "Easy Lover" (a UK number-one hit). In 1998, the album reached number one in the United Kingdom and number 18 in the United States. On 4 August 2008, it became the number one album on the New Zealand RIANZ album chart. In ...

Hits! The Very Best Of Erasure
''Hits! The Very Best of Erasure'' is the second greatest hits album by English synth-pop duo Erasure, released on 20 October 2003 by Mute Records. Capitalising on a resurgence of Erasure's music after their successful covers album ''Other People's Songs'', Mute released ''Hits!'' in order to reintroduce people to the duo's music and to give an update to their 1992 singles compilation ''Pop! The First 20 Hits''. Since the release of ''Pop!'', Erasure had released fifteen more singles, but only six of them appeared on ''Hits!''. In addition, two additional songs from the ''Abba-esque'' EP were added to the line-up, as well as a new remix of "Oh L'amour", originally found on their 1986 debut album '' Wonderland''. To entice Erasure completists to purchase the ''Hits!'' set, limited copies of the album contained a bonus CD containing an "Erasure Megamix," consisting of eighteen of their classic songs (including "You Surround Me", the only song not on the main album) strung tog ...

''Hits+'' is a compilation album by Australian recording artist Kylie Minogue, which was released on 7 November 2000 by Deconstruction Records. Hits (Pulp Album)
''Hits'' is a greatest hits collection by the English rock band Pulp (band), Pulp, released in November 2002. Background As a collection, ''Hits'' only covers Pulp's singles from the early 1990s when they hit the mainstream, although the band had existed in one form or another since 1978. ''Hits'' includes all of Pulp's A-sides released from "Babies (song), Babies" in 1992 to "Bad Cover Version" in 2002, with the exception of "Mis-Shapes" from ''Different Class'', apparently because, by the time the compilation was released, the band could no longer stand the song. In its place is "Underwear", an album track from ''Different Class''. The tracklisting is ordered chronologically by release date, with the exception of Pulp's last single "Bad Cover Version", which instead appears between "The Trees (Pulp song), The Trees" and "Sunrise (Pulp song), Sunrise" (the latter two tracks having originally been released together as a double A-side single). Two other singles, "Common People ...
