Hitkarini Sabha ( hi, हितकारिणी सभा) is a historic, educational, non-profit organization located in the city of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India. It is runs some of the oldest academic institutions in the region. It was founded in 1868 by Raj Balwant Rao Kher, Diwan Biharilal Khajanchi and Shri Ambika Charan Banerjee. Hitkarini Sabha was persuaded by Seth Govind Das to take a nationalist view. The students at Hitkarini Sabha institutions participated in the swaraj movement. Hitkarini Sabha has played a significant role in development of Hindi language. In a meeting in 1871, the Hitkarini Sabha met to discuss the question of court language. It was decided by an 8 to 2 margin that Hindi is more suitable than Urdu. It published a literary magazine for a while and organized meetings of leading Hindi authors. Hitkarini College Of Engineering & Technology
Hitkarini College of Engineering and Technology (abbreviated HCET or HCET Jabalpur) is a private technical institute located in Jabalpur, India. It is the second-oldest private engineering institute of the Mahakoshal region. It is a subsidiary of a historic educational society, the Hitkarini Sabha. The college is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi Technical University, Bhopal and All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi. Hanumantal Bada Jain Mandir
Bara Mandir (हनुमान-ताल मन्दिर) is a historic Jain temple in Jabalpur, right on the edge of Hanumantal, once the main center of Jabalpur. History Bhattaraka Harichandrabhushan of Sonagiri, belonging to the Balatkara Gana division of Mula Sangha conducted pratishas in 1834, 1839, and 1840. Bhattaraka Charichandrabhushan conducted pratishthas in 1866, 1867 and 1889. The bhattarakas of Sonagiri also administered the nearby Jain center of Panagar, where Narendrabhushan installed images in 1797, Surendrabhushana conducted pratishtha in 1822, and Acharyabhushan in 1838. The temple houses several images from the Kalachuri period (10-12th century), including an ornately crafted image of Lord Adinath. It also has many Mughal period, Maratha period and British period images, along with those installed after India's Independence. Captain B P Tiwari (15 June 1911 - 2008) was an Indian military officer, politician and statesman. Kunji Lal Dubey
Kunji Lal Dubey (18 March 1896 – 2 June 1970) was an Indian independence activist, lawyer, educationist and politician from Madhya Pradesh. He was the first vice chancellor of Rani Durgavati University and the chancellor of Nagpur University. Seth Govind Das
Seth Govind Das (16 October 1896 – 18 June 1974) was an Indian independence activist and parliamentarian. He belonged to the Maheshwari merchant family of Raja Gokuldas of Jabalpur. The family began as the banking firm of Sevaram Khushalchand, one of the "great firms" as termed by T.A. Timberg. Das was also a Hindi author and supported Hindi as the national language of India. He represented Jabalpur (Lok Sabha constituency), Jabalpur in the Indian Parliament from 1957 to 1974. Das was an associate and follower of Mahatma Gandhi. Subhadra Kumari Chauhan
Subhadra Kumari Chauhan (16 August 1904 – 15 February 1948) was an Indian poet. One of her most popular poems is "Jhansi ki Rani" (about the courageous Queen of Jhansi).'' Biography Subhadra Chauhan was born in Nihalpur village in Prayagraj District, Uttar Pradesh. She initially studied in the Crosthwaite Girls' School in Allahabad where she was senior to and friends with Mahadevi Verma and passed the middle-school examination in 1919. She married Thakur Lakshman Singh Chauhan of Khandwa in 1919 when she was sixteen with whom she had five children. After her marriage with Thakur Lakshman Singh Chauhan of Khandwa in the same year, she moved to Jubbulpore (now Jabalpur), Central Provinces.
