Hit It! Recordings
HitIt! Recordings was an independent record label established in 1994 by artist manager/record producer Ken Waagner as an in house label at the Chicago Recording Company. In January 1994, the Kansas City-based rock band Molly McGuire signed with the label and recorded their debut album ''Sisters of…'' (HIT-02). The label released a seven-inch single by Molly McGuire "heart" (HIT-001) and a split single between Molly McGuire and KC power trio Shiner ''"Crush" b/w "Exhaust"'' (HIT-003) prior to the release of ''Sisters of…'' in the summer of 1994. Independent Record Label
An independent record label (or indie label) is a record label that operates without the funding or distribution of major record labels; they are a type of small- to medium-sized enterprise, or SME. The labels and artists are often represented by trade associations in their country or region, which in turn are represented by the international trade body, the Worldwide Independent Network (WIN). Many of the labels started as producers and distributors of specific genres of music, such as jazz music, or represent something new and non-mainstream, such as Elvis Presley in the early days. Chicago Recording Company, or CRC, is a recording studio in Chicago, Illinois, founded in 1975. Boasting twelve studios, CRC is the largest recording company in the Midwest, and the largest independent studio in the country. History Early history Originally called Sound House Studios, CRC was founded by Alan Kubicka in Medinah, Illinois. In 1975 the studio moved to Michigan Ave in Chicago, IL and became Chicago Recording Company. Shiner is an American post-hardcore/alternative rock band from Kansas City, Missouri that was active from 1992 to 2003. Since 2012 Shiner has been playing several shows a year. The band's new record ''Schadenfreude'' was released May 8, 2020, with touring to follow that was since cancelled due to COVID-19. Boys Life was an American indie rock band from Kansas City, Missouri, formed in 1993. The band was foundational in the emo genre, especially influencing Taking Back Sunday. Band members went on to form other bands such as Canyon and Lullaby for the Working Class. Brandon Butler has also released several albums of solo material under his own name and formed the band Six Bells in 2014, who released their debut album in late 2015. ''Presence'' is the seventh studio album by the English rock band Led Zeppelin, released by Swan Song Records on 31 March 1976. While the record was a commercial success, reaching the top of both the British and American album charts, and achieving a triple-platinum certification in the United States, it received mixed reviews from critics and was the lowest-selling studio album by the band while they were still active. The album was written and recorded in the last months of 1975, during a difficult time in the band's history. Singer Robert Plant was recuperating from serious injuries he had sustained earlier that year in a car accident; this led to tours being cancelled and the band booking studio time to record ''Presence'' instead.
