Jidaigeki
is a genre of film, television, video game, and theatre in Japan. Literally meaning "period dramas", they are most often set during the Edo period of Japanese history, from 1603 to 1868. Eiichi Kudo
was a Japanese film director. Kudo directed 30 films between 1956 and 1998. His notable films are ''13 Assassins (1963 film), 13 Assassins'' (1963) and ''The Great Killing'' (1964). He joined the Toei Company, Toei film company in 1952 and made his film director debut with ''Fukaku hichō'' in 1959. His 1982 film ''Yaju-deka'' was entered into the 33rd Berlin International Film Festival. Kudo directed a lot of television dramas and he directed more than 50 episodes of the popular television jidaigeki Hissatsu series. He died of Intracerebral hemorrhage on September 23, 1999. Koreyoshi Kurahara
(31 May 1927 – 28 December 2002) was a Japanese screenwriter and director. He is perhaps best known for directing ''Antarctica'' (1983), which won several awards and was entered into the 34th Berlin International Film Festival. He also co-directed ''Hiroshima'' (1995) with Roger Spottiswoode, which was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Miniseries. Makoto Fujita
, born Makoto Harada (April 13, 1933 – February 17, 2010), was a Japanese actor. He was born in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, the son of silent-film actor Rintarō Fujima, and started his career as a comedian in 1952. Acting Roles Fujita appeared in both ''jidaigeki'' and contemporary roles. He starred as Nakamura Mondo, a samurai, in sixteen Hissatsu series on Asahi Broadcasting Corporation from 1973. Mie Nakao (Japanese: 中尾 ミエ ; born 6 June 1946 in Kokura) is a Japanese actress and singer. Hissatsu Shiokiya Kagyō
is a Japanese television ''jidaigeki'' or period drama that was broadcast in 1975–1976. It is the 6th in the Hissatsu series. Kenji Misumi was hospitalized while directing episode 13 where he later died. Plot Nakamura Mondo retired from professional killer's job but a woman(Okō) suddenly visits Mondo and urges him to withdraw his retirement. He refuses once but he finally decides to come back from his retirement. Mondo coincidentally witnessed murder during his patrol. The man who committed murder was a lonely assassin, Ichimatsu. Ichimatsu is a bamboo craftsman but he is also a professional killer. Ichimatsu thought of killing Mondo because he was witnessed his murder by Mondo. One day Nakamura Mondo suddenly visits Ichimatsu to ask him to kill a man. In the final episode of Kurayami Shitomenin Itoi Mitsugu was killed so Mondo has been looking for someone.
