Hisham Arafat
Hisham Arafat ( ar, هشام عرفات) is a former Transport Minister of Egypt in the cabinet headed by Sherif Ismail from 19 February 2017 to 27 February 2019 -in succession to Minister Galal Saeed- and resigned shortly after the Ramses Station rail disaster. Qualifications Hisham holds the following degrees: * Bachelor of Engineering from Ain Shams University in 1985. * Master's degree from the same university in 1991 * Doctor's Degree from Ain Shams University and the University of Braunschweig in Germany. Personal life Arafat is married to an engineer who works in the private sector. they have two sons who graduated from the German University - the first from the Department of Electrical and Communications, and the second is a mechanic. Sherif Ismail
Sherif Ismail ( ar, شريف إسماعيل ; born 6 July 1955) is an Egyptian engineer who served as prime minister between 2015 and 2018. He was minister of petroleum and mineral resources from 2013 to 2015. Career Ismail studied mechanical engineering at Ain Shams University and graduated in 1978. He has held managerial posts at state-run petrochemical and natural gas firms. He served as the executive deputy chairman and then chairman of the Egyptian holding company for petrochemicals (ECHEM), which was established in 2002. Next he was named chairman of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS). Then he worked as the managing director of the state-run oil holding company, Ganoub El Wadi Petroleum Holding Company (GANOPE). and became chairman of the company. Ramses Station Rail Disaster
The Ramses Station rail disaster occurred on 27 February 2019 in Ramses Station of Cairo, Egypt. Twenty-five people were killed and forty injured. Accident In the early morning of 27 February 2019, in Cairo's main train station, Ramses Station, a locomotive hit the buffers at the end of the track at platform 6 at high speed, causing an explosion that sparked a major blaze and fireball that blackened the walls of the station. The locomotive could later be seen inside, leaning to one side next to a platform. One eyewitness said: It was later confirmed that the driver was not inside the locomotive during the accident. According to Egypt's Prosecutor General, Nabil Sadek, one train driver had left his train to fight with another train driver; thereafter, the unmanned train struck the barrier.
