Frank Hiscock
Frank Hiscock (September 6, 1834June 18, 1914) was a U.S. Representative and Senator from New York. He served in the United States Congress from 1877 to 1893. Hiscock was a native of Pompey, New York, and graduated from Pompey Academy. After studying law with his brother L. Harris Hiscock, he was admitted to the bar in 1855 and began to practice in the town of Tully. The Hiscock brothers later relocated to Syracuse, where they founded the firm that became known as Hiscock & Barclay. In addition to their law practice, the Hiscock brothers were active in politics. Frank Hiscock was opposed to slavery, and successively joined the Democratic, Free Soil, and Republican parties. He served as district attorney of Onondaga County from 1860 to 1863, and was a delegate to the 1867 state constitutional convention in 1867. Dave Hiscock
David Hiscock (born 25 May 1953 in Stokes Valley) is a New Zealand motorcycle rider. Early life Hiscock and elder brother Neville grew up in Stokes Valley, a suburb of Lower Hutt in Greater Wellington, where the pair rode an old BSA Bantam in grass paddocks and later perfected their skills on the Rimutaka Hill climb north of Upper Hutt. David and Neville began racing in 1972 at the Gracefield street circuit in Lower Hutt on Commando 750s. Dave finished eighth and Neville finished in fifth place. Career Hiscock achieved fame in the 1970s and early 1980s, when he dominated the big-bike production class in Australia and New Zealand, gaining 40 consecutive wins on Suzuki GS1000 and GSX1100 bikes over the course of two seasons. His brother Neville was also an accomplished rider of 500cc, 750cc and 1100c motorcycles. Thomas Hiscock
Thomas Hiscock (1812–1855) was an English blacksmith and prospector who settled in Australia in the 1840s. He is best-remembered today for helping to spark the Victorian Gold Rush with his discovery of gold outside the town of Buninyong, near Ballarat. Short biography Hiscock was born in Berkshire, England, in 1812. He married Phoebe Blanchard in 1833 and the couple had two sons before moving to what is now Victoria on 1 July 1841. They had three more children, all daughters, after arriving in Australia (New South Wales). He initially worked for a squatter in Trawalla before setting up as a blacksmith in Buninyong. He spent some time searching for gold around the Buninyong area, finally discovering an outcropping of gold-bearing reef in August 1851. This discovery led to increased interest in Victoria from gold prospectors, who soon uncovered gold at nearby Ballarat. Eric Hiscock
Eric Charles Hiscock (14 March 1908 – 15 September 1986) was a British sailor and author of books on small boat sailing and ocean cruising. Together with his wife and crew Susan Oakes Hiscock (née Sclater, 18 May 1913 – 12 May 1995), he authored numerous accounts of their short cruises and world circumnavigations, accomplished over several decades. His works also include several technical how-to books on sailing and ocean cruising and a film made on board ''Wanderer III'' entitled ''Beyond The West Horizon''. Early life Eric Hiscock chronicled his earliest sailing experiences, both solo and later with his wife Susan, in ''Wandering Under Sail'' (first published 1939, revised and enlarged 1948 and 1977). Eileen Hiscock
Eileen May Hiscock, later Wilson, (25 August 1909 – 3 September 1958) was an English track and field athlete who competed for Great Britain in the 1932 Summer Olympics and in the 1936 Summer Olympics. She was born in Blackheath, London. At the 1930 Women's World Games in Prague she was a member, along with Ethel Scott, Ivy Walker and Daisy Ridgley, of the British 4×100 metre relay team which won the silver medal.Eric L. Neville Hiscock
Neville Hiscock (27 March 1951Births, Deaths, and Marriages Register for New Zealand – 13 February 1983) was a New Zealand motorcycle racer in the 1970s and 1980s. He raced competitively in New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa. Neville Hiscock along with his equally skilled brother Dave Hiscock dominated the competitive racing circuits in New Zealand and Australia and was just starting to make a name for himself internationally when he was killed in South Africa while racing. He was currently leading the race, when he fell and suffered severe head injuries. He died soon after never having regained consciousness. Neville was killed in February 1983, at Killarney, near Cape Town. Shortly after his brother Dave Hiscock retired from competitive racing, and continued to live in South Africa for a number of years.
