''His 'n' Hers'' is the fourth studio album by English rock band Pulp, released on 18 April 1994 by Island Records. It proved to be the band's breakthrough album, reaching number nine on the UK Albums Chart, and was nominated for the 1994 Mercury Music Prize. In 1998, ''Q'' magazine readers voted it the seventieth greatest album of all time, while it was placed at number 110 in the book ''Virgin All-Time Top 1000 Albums''. Themes and content Lyrically, the album encompasses subjects for which Pulp were to become well known, including sexual encounters, social class and voyeurism. Robyn Strachan retrospectively describes the opener "Joyriders" as setting the tone for the album with "acerbic observation and lurking seediness and decay". Timothy Julian Brooke-Taylor Order of the British Empire, OBE (17 July 194012 April 2020) was an English actor and comedian best known as a member of The Goodies. He became active in performing in comedy sketches while at the University of Cambridge and became president of the Footlights, touring internationally with its revue in 1964. Becoming more widely known to the public for his work on BBC Radio with ''I'm Sorry, I'll Read That Again'', he moved into television with ''At Last the 1948 Show'', working together with old Cambridge friends John Cleese and Graham Chapman. Alice Feeney is a British novelist of the 21st century, writing in the mystery and thriller genres. Before becoming a published writer, Feeney was a producer and journalist at the BBC for fifteen or sixteen years. She started there at age 21 and was a producer for the One O’clock News, and also a reporter and news editor, and producer for arts and entertainment programmes. She started writing her first novel, ''Sometimes I Lie'', when she was 30, writing in her spare time and on the train to work. It was their third release after the band signed to Island Records and it reached number 19 on the UK Singles Chart, becoming their highest chart position at the time.
